A little disclaimer before we get started:

I pay close attention to the halal status of the restaurants I mention on The Working Line.

Whenever I come across an HMC halal restaurant, I’ll tell you so.

I’ll also let you know if only some meats used are halal, and if pork and alcohol are served in the restaurants so you can make your own enlightened choice before booking/walking in.

Restaurants can change suppliers without notice, so I’d always recommend double-checking if they are still halal by calling, emailing or sending a message on social media.

That being said, welcome to this new guide about the best halal cafes in London for brunch and breakfast!

Best Halal Cafes in London: Rabbit Hole Cafe, Holloway Road

The Rabbit Hole Cafe is one of the best cafes on Holloway Road, North London, and one of the only places that celebrate Alice in Wonderland in London.

When it’s sunny, you can eat on one of the tables with a view on the street, very much Italian-style, but the Rabbit Hole Cafe is also pretty spacious inside.

Burgers, Full English breakfast, fresh and flavorful smoothies, this North London cafe has it all – and is one of the only budget places to have lunch under £5 in London!

I wouldn’t go as far as saying everything is Alice-themed, but the names on the menu boast an Alice vibe and the rabbit figurines scattered here and there will strongly remind you of the Lewis Caroll character.

If you’re a student or a digital nomad, the Central Islington library at the end of the road is one of my favorite free libraries in London to work for a bit – a place I’ve often visited after visiting the Rabbit Hole Cafe.

I have been visiting halal cafes in London around Bethnal Green and Whitechapel for years now, ever since I first moved to London and resided in Mile End for the first few months.

At that time, I discovered Dulce Coffee and fell in love with its amazing food – it’s one of the first places to visit in London for a proper, affordable halal Full English breakfast.

Over the years, the Moroccan restaurant, a family-run business, has improved its offer with gradually prettier plates, more colorful dishes, and even friendlier service.

Dulce Coffee is one of the best halal brunch spots in East London, with delicious cakes, sandwiches, pancakes, and breakfast bites on the menu.

The decoration is simple, the tables are made of beautiful wood, giving the cafe a rustic vibe that I’m in love with.

Plus, there are two floors to accommodate patrons, which are very useful since Dulce Coffee is one of the most popular halal cafes in London.

Best Halal Brunch in London: Grounded, Whitechapel

There are not a lot of HMC halal restaurants in London as amazing as Grounded, and let me tell you why.

Located on Whitechapel Road, Grounded – also known as Grounded Coffee Company – has been offering for years some of the most delicious halal brunch in London.

Open all day from breakfast to dinner, Grounded cooks up delicious halal burgers, pancakes, crumpets, and salads bound to fill up your stomach in a more-than-satisfying way.

I have been a regular at Grounded for years, and if you’re looking for the best halal cafes in London on a very instagrammable background, this is it.

With its rustic, wooden, and organic background, Grounded has got to be one of the prettiest cafes in London – and often packed, with a queue of people waiting outside to be seated.

This is one of my favorite places to write in London, and since there are power outlets scattered all around the cafe and free WiFi, you would be able to do some work there as well when it’s not rush hour.

Check out their smoothies and fresh juices, but more importantly, do treat yourself to one of the fresh brownies and cookies Grounded has on the counter at all times of the day.

You can find quite a few halal restaurants in Covent Garden and Soho, but for breakfast, you’ve got a great option with the Lebanese Bakery.

Serving both sweet and savory treats, the Lebanese Bakery has some really amazing specialties like their flatbreads filled with meat and vegetarian recipes.

The manousheh (flatbreads) are also available in sweet versions, and all the meat used is free-range and halal.

I love the Covent Garden area, but if you’re around West London, there’s another Lebanese Bakery at Harrods in Knightsbridge as well.

That is, of course, if you don’t want to try the oh-so-pink cafe in front of Harrods, Elan Cafe on Hans Crescent.

All the branches are very clean, and perfect if you’re looking for aesthetic halal cafes in London to have a morning date before roaming the city.

If you’re ever after cafes to study, there’s an amazing Caffè Nero on Brompton Road where I happen to work quite often, so you could chill there to read or journal a bit once you’re done.

Best Halal Brunch in London: Cobblers Cafe, Edmonton

Cobblers Cafe is probably one of the most underrated halal cafes in London.

It’s true that it’s located up North in Edmonton, which is not close to Central London at all and does not tend to attracts tourists.

For that reason, this is mostly a spot that you’d visit if you’re looking for the best halal breakfast in North London.

Or, if you’re down to travel, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

First of all, this is one of the HMC halal restaurants in London, so all the food is halal there.

It is often packed with locals looking to get some coffee, breakfast, or brunch.

It’s open every day of the week and accessible on a walk-in basis. If you want to get a delicious halal burger, that’s also the place.

The plates are colorful and filled with delicious, fresh recipes, like avocado and salmon toasts, halal Full English breakfast, and my favorite item of all; their amazing French toasts.

Panadera Bakery is located on Kentish Town Road, and it’s clearly one of the best halal breakfast places in the city.

Why?

Because it’s a bit different, for starters.

Usually, when you’re onto halal cafes in London, it’s mostly to get English breakfast and typical brunch plates.

But Panadera Bakery and their Filipino bread and pastries are just on another level.

The cute bakery belongs to the same company that owns Mamasons, Ramo Ramen, and Bintang, three delicious halal places in London.

I love all kinds of Asian foods, and some, like halal pho, are quite hard to find.

One thing is for sure, Panadera Bakery and its Filipino-inspired cakes and brunch bites are one of the most interesting Asian restaurants for breakfast in London.

With its traditional breakfast Sando, signature milk loaf bread, and pan de coco, Panadera Bakery brings Filipino cakes to the forefront of London’s halal breakfast scene.

With just a few seats, it’s a very local place, and one of the best halal brunch spots near Camden Town.

And since there are lots of cool shops in Camden Town and secret places to visit…

That’s a good start to the day!

Best Halal Brunch in London: Apple Blue Patisserie, Balham

Apple Blue Patisserie is located in Balham, so if you’re ever around South West London, you’d do very well to pay them a visit.

Owned by two Muslim sisters, Apple Blue is one of the halal cafes in London focusing on delicious breakfast and brunch, with a very instagrammable look.

The place is definitely beautiful, and the pastries, breakfast, and brunch dishes are all more beautiful than the previous one.

The pastries are handmade, and the cinnamon rolls and cakes are so flavorful you won’t be able to stop thinking about them.

If you’re looking for a halal breakfast in London to share with your other half, Apple Blue Patisserie is the perfect place for a romantic Saturday morning date.

The Baby Dutch, a version of the Yorkshire pudding with delicious fillings, is something to taste at least once in your life.

And do try their blue latte – it’s unusual and delicious!

Palaette in Hackney is one of the most perfect halal cafes in London for those who love colorful plates.

In some of the dishes, flowers top the pancakes and waffles, and the juices are fresh and sweet, so-very-comforting.

If you’re looking for halal brunch spots in East London, the Mare Street restaurant offers delicious food every day of the week.

On the drinks menu, some of the best coffee in London, with specialty coffee like pink latte that I do recommend you to try.

It’s still a pretty young establishment since Palaette opened in 2019, and since then, it’s been a big star on Instagram.

Not all the food is halal, but all halal items are clearly indicated on the menu.

Specializing in Turkish breakfast, Palaette offers one of my favorites, sucuk, a kind of spicy Turkish sausage full of flavor.

The plates are colorful and bring Turkish food to the forefront of halal cafes in London – to our greatest satisfaction.

There are lots of hidden gems in Mayfair, all located close to Drunch, so why not visit the gorgeous Brown Hart Gardens after breakfast? It’s a cute, hidden terrace garden just a few minutes’ walk away.

Mount Street Gardens are also one of London’s most secret gardens, cute, relaxing, with structured lawns and a beautiful church to admire for a bit while chilling on a bench.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Steam & Bean Coffee Lounge, East London

Steam & Bean Coffee Lounge is another one of the oh-too-underrated halal cafes in London, as in – if you want a completely halal breakfast, that’s the spot to go.

Located in East London, not too far from Hackney, Steam & Bean Coffee Lounge offers a good variety of dishes.

Hackney offers some of the best hidden gems in London, notably with the beautiful Mark Street Gardens close to Leonard Street.

You’ll find at Steam and Bean Coffee Lounge a menu that ranges from halal burgers to halal Full English breakfast, panini, delicious coffee, and even chicken dishes.

A great spot with amazing decor and friendly staff, still really underrated, where you can definitely have a laidback romantic moment as soothing as you wish it to be.

Bake Street really needs no introduction anymore – or does it?

There are plenty of really good cafes in Stoke Newington, and Bake Street’s location close to Stokey and Lower Clapton makes it a must-visit if you’re in North London.

If you want to get a seat at weekends, I’d definitely recommend popping by as early as possible as Bake Street offers some of the most popular halal Full English breakfast plates in London.

In addition, for other brunch bites, the North London coffee shop also preps delicious cookies, toasties, as well as beautiful halal burgers.

Before roaming around the pretty neighborhoods of Stoke Newington and Dalston, shopping for edgy, vintage clothes and discovering hidden street art, a visit to Bake Street is a must!

Best Halal Cafes in London: Lime Tree Cafe, Edmonton

The first time I paid a visit to Lime Tree Cafe in Edmonton was a few days before moving to Tottenham, where I stayed for a few months before moving to West Hampstead.

I had passed by quite a few times while visiting Poundstretcher and Home Bargains to shop for candles, and the extravagant decor felt very enticing.

While Lime Tree Cafe serves pork, their halal Full English breakfast is made with turkey rashers and beef sausage – and were clearly some of the best I’ve eaten ever.

Their fluffy pancakes were also delicious, and if you’re looking for an Elan Cafe type of instagrammable spot, this oh-so-underrated coffee shop in Edmonton is a must-visit!

Halal options available, pork is served.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Bite to Eat Cafe, Tottenham

Bite to Eat Cafe on the High Road in Tottenham, in North London, isn’t one of the entirely halal cafes in London – however, from what I’ve tasted, I will be visiting again.

It’s got that slightly rustic atmosphere, with beautiful decor and super friendly cooks and waitresses.

I worked in hospitality long enough, notably at Oblix at the Shard, in London Bridge to know how important friendly service is, and if you’re ever around Tottenham…

That’s a spot to visit whether it’s spring or autumn.

I’m yet to try the halal Full English breakfast I’ve spotted on the menu; when I visited, the waitress absolutely recommended the grilled fish, which was a great piece of advice.

Bite to Eat Cafe is a great spot for al fresco dining too, since there are a few seats with a view on the High Road as well as a secret garden in the back for a more intimate feel.

Halal options available, pork is served.
