I used to live in North London – as such, it’s only normal that I would talk about the best study cafes in North London at one point or another.

Laptop friendly coffee shops around Archway, Wood Green, Islington and North Finchley – those places where you wouldn’t think of going for a work cafe in the first place.

I have been a freelance writer and a blogger for a long time now, so many years that sometimes, I lose track of how long it’s been.

But one thing is for sure.

Looking for the best cafes in London to work and study is one of my ultimate passions.

And if you’ve read a few articles about cafes to work in London Bridge, East London, and Oxford Street here on The Working Line, you know exactly what I mean.

Even as a freelancer, I’m still studying from time to time, especially to know how to make my articles more captivating for my clients.

That’s why I write a lot about the best cafes to study in London – because it’s important to me to find quiet cafes from time to time.

Other than that, when I’m just writing, and whether I’m looking for study cafes in North London or study cafes in East London, I don’t really mind the noise.

It actually soothes me, and I need the coffee shop sounds background to be able to focus entirely.

But enough rambling – you’ve come here to learn about the best study cafes in North London, and that’s what we’re going to be on about today.

So welcome to this new guide to the best study cafes in North London around Archway, Angel, Islington, Wood Green, and more, so freelancers, students, and digital nomads can know where to study and work around North London. Let’s get to it!

I used to live in North Finchley, spent a few months near Wood Green, and happened to spend a lot of time around Edmonton as well at some point.

Spending so much time between those places, and being so far from Central London, has allowed me to test some of the coolest study cafes in North London.

I mean, better make use of the fact that Central London isn’t right next door, am I right?

Wherever I am, I’ll always be after the most aesthetic cafes in London to work and study.

Just because I feel better working in nice conditions, with fresh pastries, delicious artisan roasted coffee, and lots of power outlets and free WiFi.

In all the study cafes in North London I’ll mention today, there are power outlets available – but sometimes, they’re not scattered all around the cafe.

Just to let you know.

I’ve listed here only my favorites, and do think quite a few definitely deserve the title of best cafes to work in London for freelancers, students, and digital nomads.

Heck, I am a freelancer, and a digital nomad after all, and they work pretty well when I want to work with my laptop somewhere up North!

And since I know that you’re going to want amazing WiFi cafes in London, I’ve made sure those all have free WiFi as well.

Best Cafes in North London To Study: Redemption Roasters, Islington

I first came across Redemption Roasters as I was taking the bus from my place to London Bridge, and made a mental note to try it sometime.

Well, that’s one of the best study cafes in North London if you’re a student, a freelancer, or a digital nomad looking for great coffee and delicious food.

There’s something about aesthetic cafes in London that I’ve never found in France or in Italy, two countries I’ve been freelancing in.

First off, the food is absolutely fresh and you can see that Redemption Roasters is one of the cafes that focuses greatly on the quality of the coffee as well.

Just off Islington High Street, Redemption Roasters is one of the best cafes in London to work around Islington and Angel.

There are always a few seats outside, and it’s quite spacious inside. However, if you’re looking for cafes to study in London, I’d recommend coming either super early or off rush hours.

Just because Redemption Roasters is quite a famous place, and their amazing coffee attracts people from all over London.

That’s why it is pretty busy most of the time.

Even if you might want it busy to get those coffee shop sounds I mentioned earlier, you actually also want a place to sit.

One of my favorite study cafes in North London, especially given its almost central location and lots of small charity shops around to go shopping for second hand books when I’m done working.

Best Study Cafes in North London: Pret, Wood Green

Pret Wood Green is one of my ultimate favorite study cafes in North London. Why? First of all, it’s huge.

Second of all, it has some power outlets and free WiFi, and it’s bustling with people at all times of the day.

Located in The Mall, one of my favorite shopping centers in London, I’ve found Pret in Wood Green was one of the best Pret cafes to study in London from day one.

No one’s ever told me anything as I was spending long hours working there, and since I have the Pret subscription, I can order up to five beverages in a day while I’m working on my laptop.

And boy, do I need those beverages when I’m working! I’ve got this addiction to coffee I should probably take a closer look at – but I’m rambling.

If you don’t necessarily need a socket for your laptop, there are lots of additional seats in the Pret coffee shop in Wood Green.

A lot don’t have power outlets, so you can also come with your notebooks and your books and just plan the week while looking at the world passing by around you.

I usually come very early in the morning, at the opening, but even during the day, you’re bound to find a seat with power outlets soon after you arrive.

Best Cafes in North London To Study: Caffè Nero, North Finchley

Located on the High Road in North Finchley, Caffè Nero is one of the best study cafes in North London all around.

The coffee shop is surprisingly not too spacious, but there are enough seats with power outlets that you’ll love working there.

I’ve always loved Caffè Nero; I love the coffee, and I love the rustic atmosphere blowing off from the wooden seats and walls in all their coffee shops.

I have actually written a guide to the best Caffè Nero study cafes in London, and I do urge you to read it, as they’re the best London cafes to work in if you’re a student or a freelancer.

A sure place to make it happen, if you will.

Caffè Nero in North Finchley is frequented, that is true, but way less than other aesthetic cafes in London where it’s trendy to have brunch or breakfast.

There’s free WiFi there, as in all the Caffè Nero in London, and there are enough power outlets that you’ll be able to work on your laptop for a few hours.

If you manage to grab a seat on the diner-style seats behind the register at the end of the cafe, you’ll love working in this coffee shop.

Best Coworking Cafes in London: Caravan, King’s Cross

Granary Square is one of the most underrated places to hang out in London, filled with aesthetic cafes, and independent shops – and the canal as well!

Located a few minutes behind St Pancras and King’s Cross Station, you’ve got Caravan.

That’s an institution when it comes to all-day dining and finding the best brunch in London – and one of the best cafes to study in London.

It is one of the most central study cafes in North London I’ll mention in this guide today.

That’s true, as you’ve got Euston Station and Warren Street nearby – meaning that Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street are a stone’s throw away from you when you’re working at Caravan.

They also have other cafes slash restaurants all around London, including Canary Wharf, Exmouth Market, and Fitzrovia.

But the one in King’s Cross is perfect if you’re looking for cafes to study in London.

I’d recommend visiting Caravan early in the morning, and getting some breakfast while you’re working.

But the cool thing is that there are also a few huge, long tables at the back of the restaurant, which means that you can work there for hours without worrying whether you’re bothering people or not.

All throughout the week, except at weekends, Caravan at King’s Cross is open from 8 am till 11 pm.

So although I’ve not yet come across 24 hour cafes to study in London, that coffee shop will make do perfectly.

Best Cafes in North London To Study: Neighbourhood Organic

I passed by Neighbourhood Organic in Kentish Town quite a few times before I actually took the time to sit down with my laptop there.

And best believe it’s one of the best study cafes in North London if you’re around Kentish Town and Camden Town.

You’ll find lots of people working on their laptops there, enjoying the free WiFi and power outlets disseminated all around the pretty (huge) coffee shop.

It’s open from 8 am to 6 pm most days, except at weekends when Neighbourhood Organic closes at 6.30 – I’d definitely recommend coming here early to snatch a seat with a power outlet.

Neighbourhood Organic offers lots of amazing organic (duh) bites, delicious artisan coffee, and plenty of seating space for those students and freelancers that might be needing it.

Fresh cakes, granola and sandwiches, amazing coffee, and a huge spot where you’re bound to find a seat at any time of the day – that must be one of the most underdog cafes to study in London.

Best Cafes To Work in London: Fine and Grosso

Fine and Grosso on Seven Sisters Road has quickly become one of the best study cafes in North London.

I happen to have lived in Seven Sisters for some time before I moved to Greenwich (I have actually moved a lot in London!).

Well, Fine and Grosso is one of the cafes to study in London I’d definitely recommend again and again.

You’ll always find lots of people working there; freelancers, students, and digital nomads go about their day there, typing away on their laptops.

Fine and Grosso focuses on providing a perfect coworking space in London for anyone willing to make it happen for themselves, and they work with an optional daily/weekly/monthly pass for you to be able to use the space.

It’s almost like one unusual coworking space in London.

The amount of your daily pass can be exchanged for food or beverages, so it’s actually the same as if you were going to a ‘usual’ study cafe.

It’s also pretty cheap, with £9 for a day, £16 for two days, and £22 for three days.

Perfect if you’re looking for study cafes in North London to study and work all day long without being bothered.

Great atmosphere, some music playing in the background, and lots of like-minded people with you – you’d think you were working in some of the best coworking spaces in Notting Hill!

Vagabond N7 is probably going to become one of your favorite study cafes in North London if you are also after vegan food.

It’s definitely one of my favorite cafes to study in London, what with its huge shop, and lots of tables filled with people working there.

Located on Holloway Road, near the Rabbit Hole Cafe, Vagabond N7 is big on customer service, and the food served there is absolutely fresh.

If you’re looking for great places to write in London, it could be a coffee shop you visit time and again.

With power outlets and free WiFi, Vagabond N7 has it all. Derived from the name ‘vagabond’, meaning ‘homeless’, Vagabond N7 has this vintage, and worn-off atmosphere turned London-style.

One of the best cafes to study in London when you want to feel at home, and don’t want to feel like the place is way too posh for your laptop and your projects.

Delicious fresh cakes, pastries, sandwiches, and artisan coffee – a coffee shop to visit.

Plus, located nearby, you have the Central Islington Library, one of my favorite free libraries to study in London. A winner all around.

I love the Archway area, and how could I not?

It’s filled with little coffee shops that definitely double as perfect cafes to study in London if you’re looking to bring your notebooks, your books, and your laptop for a while.

I do think some of the best study cafes in North London are not the biggest, and you probably know by now how much I love working in big cafes, like Starbucks coffee shops.

Yet, small, artisan cafes in London have got a vibe that I sometimes prefer when I’m trying to focus and I know I’m not too motivated for my workday.

Bread & Bean will become one of your favorite study cafes in North London if you like that fresh, rustic kind of vibe.

They have those usual bites that you can find in aesthetic cafes in London, from avocado toasts to artisan coffee, benedict eggs, pancakes, brownies, and much more, twisted the Bread & Bean way.

But what I prefer is that quiet coffee shop atmosphere, and I love coming there to work a teeny tiny bit on my laptop – one of the best cafes to work in London around Archway for sure.

Great staff, great food, free WiFi, and power outlets – a banger.

8 Best Study Cafes in North London (Laptop Friendly)

There you have them, the best study cafes in North London .

As you can imagine, since I used to live around North Finchley and Edmonton, I visited mostly the ones close to me.

I’m trying to be as productive working from home as I can be, and most days, I don’t have the time to look for new cafes to work in London when they’re too far from me.

However, I already have my favorites, whether we’re talking about cafes to study around London Bridge or East London coffee shops.

And even in West London, which I don’t visit all that often, except when I’m trying to visit some of my favorite free museums there.

Until next time!
