Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Coffee & Coconuts
Located on Ceintuurbaan, Coffee & Coconuts is the first – very – laptop friendly cafe I wanted to share with you because, well, the vibe…
Bare brick and wood will clearly remind you of the beautiful cafes in Brooklyn and offer an old school yet very enticing atmosphere.
Coffee & Coconuts is open from 8 am to 5 pm every day, and while there’s plenty of seating space, the fact that only the ground floor is laptop friendly should motivate you to get up early to get a good seat.
Not only that, but if you’re ever looking for places to have breakfast and brunch in Amsterdam, Coffee & Coconuts is the perfect spot – and does offer plenty of options for a good vegan breakfast too!

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Coffee Bru
Coffee Bru is located close to one of the most beautiful parks in Amsterdam, Oosterpark, and is another top spot where you can come with your books, notebooks and laptop.
It’s a smaller coffee shop than most in this guide, but wake up early, and you’ll be able to enjoy productive vibes here.
It’s true that when we’re working from home, it can be sometimes hard to focus, and Coffee Bru will be the perfect background if you’re looking for places to work remotely in Amsterdam.
Great coffee is served in this eclectic place as well as really, really nice cakes – and the sheer number of students and digital nomads at Coffee Bru are enough to feel motivated to study!

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Zoku
If you’re looking for laptop friendly places to study in Amsterdam but don’t mind changing the scenery for the day, why not try out Zoku?
We’re not in a coffee shop here, but in an aparthotel in which you’ll find many freelancers and students working in the (spacious) cafe space.
The secret about Zoku is their outdoor restaurant slash bar, which makes for one of the most beautiful rooftops in Amsterdam.
Power outlets and free WiFi are available here, and there are so many seats that you can pretty much come at any time of the day.
I’d still recommend coming as early as possible as the cafe restaurant is also used by hotel guests, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on a perfectly good seat!

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: WerkPlaats at Volkshotel
Werkplaats is a space located inside the Volkshotel, and another really spacious place to study in Amsterdam for hours on end.
Werkplaats is divided into several spaces, including some no-laptop spaces in which you can just write, read a book, or just chill.
Try to come as early as possible as Werkplaats tends to get quite crowded as the day goes by.
Again, while there are power outlets and free WiFi there, it’s always best to enjoy these as peacefully as possible.
If you’d like to take a lunch break or get a snack, it’s also possible – and you can even have breakfast right before work, at Werkplaats opens at 7.30 am every day.

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Coffee Company
Coffee Company is a pretty famous coffee shop chain, and the one on Bos en Lommerplein is one of the coolest cafes to work in Amsterdam.
Spacious enough, Coffee Company is open from 8 am to 6 pm almost every day of the week, with slightly shorter opening times at weekends.
Free WiFi and a few power outlets here and there marry absolutely delicious coffee and cakes, and if your laptop is charged, why not work on their super cool terrace for a bit?

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Bocca
If you’re looking for really beautiful cafes to work in Amsterdam, you’ll love Bocca, a minimalist spot dotted with power outlets – and amazing WiFi!
This is totally the type of laptop friendly cafe I love visiting to work for a day or a half-day.
Coffee at Bocca is sourced sustainably, meaning that while you’re sipping and typing away on your laptop, you’re also doing a good deed!
This is not the biggest study cafe in this guide, and for this reason only, you know what I’m going to say – come as early as you can (the cafe is open from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am at weekends).

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: BounceSpace
BounceSpace’s vibe is every digital nomad’s dream; there are no two ways around it.
Established in 2010, it mixes a coworking space and a coffee shop, which means you’ll have free WiFi, power outlets, and will be able to work there for as long as you wish to.
If you want to use one of the coworking spaces within BounceSpace, you can get a day pass or ask to know about one of their flexible memberships.
There are several floors, so everyone can feel at ease working at BounceSpace.
You don’t have to, though.
If you only want to get some coffee and read a good book while enjoying a slice of fresh cake – even vegan cake – it’s definitely possible!

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Back to Black
Another one of locals’ favorite cafes to work in Amsterdam is Back to Black (and I go back to blackkk) on Weteringstraat, which tends to fill up pretty fast.
Whether you’re looking for a coffee shop for sustainable and in-house roasted coffee or a place to work remotely, Back to Black has all you need.
It’s quite spacious, but do come as early as possible (from 8 am on weekdays) so you get a spot as close to a power outlet as possible.
However, if you’re also looking to make new friends, you’ll quickly find that Back to Black hosts so many freelancers and students that you’re bound to meet someone new at some point.

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: Monks Coffee Roasters
Monks Coffee Roasters on Bilderdijkstraat is another favorite when it comes to places to study in Amsterdam, and the vibe there is second to none.
Come as early as you can, especially since Monks Coffee Roasters is open from 8 am to 4 pm every day and it’s not the biggest study cafe out there – still good seating space and a cozy atmosphere, though.
At weekends, don’t try and come to work on your laptop – like in lots of Manhattan’s cafes, there’s a no-laptop policy there on Saturdays and Sundays.
This is balanced by the fact that the coffee shop offers really fast and free WiFi which you can enjoy at the back of the cafe during the week.

Best Cafes to Work in Amsterdam: De Kanarie Club
Now, if Monks Coffee Roasters feels a bit too cozy for you and you’re actually looking for big cafes to work in Amsterdam, try De Kanarie Club.
This one you’re sure to love, and any student, freelancer and digital nomad would do well to pop by for a few hours if you’re looking to be really productive with work.
At De Kanarie Club, located in Oud-West, you have some incredible free and fast WiFi and plenty of power outlets; more than you could be dreaming of.
It’s closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but is open from 9 am on the other days (from 11 am at weekends).
That’s definitely is a great spot to work in Amsterdam, especially if you’d like to try incredible food on your lunch break.
Indeed, De Kanarie Club tickles the incredible De Foodhallen and its dozens of street food stands!

Yusu on Andreas Bonnstraat offers some of the best opening times amongst all of Amsterdam’s study cafes – from 8 am to 6 pm most days of the week.
For those of you who’d rather study in a minimalist coffee shop, you’ll love Yusu and its feminine decor, which tends to feel very soothing on a try-to-be-productive mind.
At Yusu, you have lots of seating space, free WiFi and power outlets – what’s not to like?
Fresh cakes and pastries, a huge selection of coffee and interesting hot beverages and super cool vibes will make you feel at home from the get-go.

White Label Coffee will become your perfect background if you tend to wake up early, as it opens from 7 am on weekdays.
I know I love starting my morning routine pretty early, and that’s why I love coffee shops in London, as they tend to open very – very – early.
Located in Baarsjes, White Label Coffee feels cozy and will be a great study cafe for you if you’re only looking to kill a couple of hours working.
There are only a few power outlets scattered here and there, but if you’re looking to read and enjoy decadent coffee and fresh cakes… That’s the spot.

If you’ve read articles about coworking and laptop friendly cafes on The Working Line before, you already know I am in love with working on my laptop at Starbucks.
Whether I’m in London, Paris or Milan, Starbucks is one of the coffee shops I always rely on because I know there are power outlets and reliable WiFi in their branches around the world.

Lastly, we have another amazing option if you’re looking for the best cafes to work in Amsterdam, and this one answers to the sweet name of MidWest.
This is a quirky cafe which is set up in what used to be a school, in the gymnasium, more precisely, and it’s pretty fun to feel like time has taken you back to your childhood when working there.
The only downside about MidWest is the fact that they’re open only four days a week, from 9 am to 6 pm (10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays).
That means that if you’re looking for a laptop friendly cafe that you can visit on the daily, you’ll have to couple MidWest with another cool spot mentioned in this guide.
MidWest works like a coffee shop and will definitely make you feel at home as soon as you arrive.
