A complete review of the Level 8 Luminous Check In trunk 28″; one of the best Level 8 luggage pieces for long travels, digital nomads and quality travel gear!
If I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve raved about the excellent Level 8 luggage brand here, I have not lost track of my favorites.
Should you have read my reviews about the wonderful Voyageur Set (mustard and black, so pretty!) and other Road Runner Pro carry-on, you’ll have already understood that Level 8 is nothing short of amazing.
This feeling I’ve had ever since I discovered the brand was enhanced with one I’ve been trying out – and loving! – lately: the Level 8 Luminous Check-in Trunk in 28″.
Travel Staples: Level 8 Luminous Large Trunk Luggage 28” Review

‘Traveling is in our modern, cultural DNA – we travel for work, for pleasure, for connection’
An air of freedom is what I feel and imagine every time I think about my Level 8 suitcases, which have been following me around for a little over a year, if I’m not mistaken.
I’ve tried so many of them, and if Level 8 establishes that ‘more travel means more cultural connection’, this is a value I stand by.
Keep reading to learn all about this wonderful sturdy suitcase brand’s story, and of course, see what I think of the Luminous Check-in trunk in 28″!
About the Level 8 Brand

Established back in 2015, Level 8 is a New York City-based company whose values very much echo what I enjoy in life: affordable luxury, sturdy and efficient products, and fast and friendly customer support.
I remember the first time I ever talked to the Level 8 team and chose my first suitcase to review.
I simply couldn’t believe how friendly yet professional our budding relationship felt.
If, in addition to a friendly team, you find the suitcases to be feel incredibly fashionable and high-end at that price, we’ve got an all-round winner.
Because that’s the thing.
Level 8 does not compromise on quality, and it feels good to understand that when touching the suitcases – not by just reading words on a website.
So here’s a bit more about the Luminous Check-in Trunk I’ve been trying out; check out all those features and gorgeous details!

Level 8 Luminous Check-in Trunk 28″ Review

Here’s what Level 8 says about their Luminous Check-in Trunk 28″:
One of our largest check-in luggage we offer.
The Luminous Trunk Luggage is finely crafted in design and functionality to offer a larger capacity for longer trips.
Made with the best Bayer Makrolon material to ensure a scratch-resistant hard-shell.
We’ve enhanced the luggage by adding ultra-quiet 360° spinner wheels that feel as smooth as silk when walking to your next gate number.
Level 8 Luminous Check-in Trunk 28″: My Initial Thoughts

I am always overly excited when a package is on the way; the Level 8 Luminous Check-in Trunk came in a sturdy box that I couldn’t wait to open when the mailman rang the doorbell.
This particular suitcase is so popular that it is one of the only models to come in no fewer than six colors: navy, white, black, pink, olivine and grey.
Should you want something a little more out there, I’d definitely check the Level 8 website as often as possible as colors like pink and olivine tend to sell out fast.
The color I initially wanted, olivine, was not in stock so I set on a beautiful, sleek piece of black luggage, and I remember thinking it was for the best since I also already use the yellow and black Voyageur Set.
Matchy matchy.

The Luminous Check-in 28″ really is a big boy and perfect to literally place your whole life in the suitcase

The silky interior provides even more elegance to the already stunning hard shell, and you will find different pockets for big and small items

Try as you may, the Level 8 suitcases are really difficult to scratch – they retain their sophisticated exterior for years due to the technological 3-layer surface

One of the biggest Level 8 suitcases, the Luminous Check-in is also one of the heaviest (logical), but feels lightweight, both when rolling and carrying it.
- 360° spinner wheels, aluminum alloy handle and YKK zippers

The features pertaining to the Luminous Check-in Trunk are similar to other Level 8 luggage I’ve tried and loved in the past.

What’s to remember is the infamously huge interior of the trunk, which literally made me feel like I could slip my whole life inside and just get going.
Which might happen soon, too – if I’ve been spending some time in France, I’m still pondering whether to move back to London, Rome, or Barcelona.
And given how much stuff I have, one can easily understand why I’d need this suitcase with me.
Another feature I’d like to highlight when it comes to the Level 8 Luminous Check-in Trunk are the 360-degree spinner wheels.

No matter whether you have just a few outfits/shoes/products or the full shindig, the 360-degree wheels are a feature I just couldn’t go without anymore.
I’ve moved across countries with my Level 8 luggage; they’ve been in some sticky situations, and still, stable and smooth they remain.
So we really have a suitcase optimized for long trips while remaining lightweight and sturdy, and whether it’s heavy or not, the wheels just glide and effortlessly take you to where you need to.
As an ex-makeup artist, aesthetics are something I just cannot overlook.
And, if I already found the Level 8 Luminous Large Trunk gorgeous when discarding the box, I felt it was even more wonderful when actually using it.
Reliable and beautiful, sturdy and lightweight…
What more could we be wishing for?
