A collection of non touristy restaurants in Paris to grab affordable breakfast, lunch and dinner – these are some of the best places to eat in Paris!
I lived in Paris for just under five years before I moved to London, and during that time, I discovered some amazing spots to grab food, from breakfast or dinner.
I’ve put together this guide to non-touristy restaurants because I believe the best food spots in any city are often the hidden gems.
If you’ve read guides on The Working Line in the past, you might have understood I love my hidden coffee shops and tiny restaurants.
Whether I talk about Rome, London, Istanbul or Barcelona, I always mention those secret places to eat—the ones with just a few seats, family-run, where the food is authentic, and the prices aren’t crazy.
11 Non Touristy Restaurants in Paris That Won’t Break the Bank

I got back home in Rome from Paris a few days ago, and have already experienced the streets crowded with tourists with the city gearing up for the 2024 Olympics.
That means a lot of people will end up in the same popular spots you see on blogs, TikTok, and Pinterest, which triggered my will to share some affordable alternatives.
From hotdogs to delicious burgers and amazing lunch deals, here are some of my favorite off the beaten path restaurants in Paris, which will fill you up nicely without breaking the bank.
Best Restaurants in Paris: Sama Loubnane, Saint Michel

A short walk from Saint Michel station, Sama Loubnane is one of the latest restaurants I have discovered in the capital.
It’s a tiny restaurant with only a few tables outside, and one where the Lebanese flavors are at their peak.
Makanek wraps, garlic potatoes, dolma, tabbouleh – you’ll find it all here, and with sandwiches priced around 6.50 euros each, that’s definitely a place to pop by while in Paris.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Le Ju’, Rue des Archives

I used to have breakfast at Les Marronniers on Rue des Archives every single time I came to Paris, until, a few days ago, I discovered an even better alternative, both in flavor and in service quality.
Le Ju’ is a place in which for just 6 euros, you can get a hot drink, a freshly pressed orange juice, a croissant or a pain au chocolat, as well as two slices of toasted baguette with butter, jam and Nutella.
From the spacious terrace, you can enjoy a proper Parisian breakfast while observing life passing by on the trendy street.
Then, once you’re done, you’ll find that you’re quite close to both Rue de Rivoli and Châtelet, two hotspots when it comes to shopping in Paris.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Dragon Wok, 19th Arrondissement

Dragon Wok in the 19th Arrondissement is located close to the Crimée metro station, and offers an all-you-can-eat menu that had me salivating as soon as I laid my eyes on it.
Smaller than typical all you can eat Asian restaurants, Dragon Wok offers a variety of dishes which include Korean barbecue, wok, maki, appetizers, spring rolls… The whole shindig.
The skewers are especially flavorful; beef, beef and coriander, lemongrass chicken, cheese and beef brochettes… Actual meat, and so tasty!

Best Restaurants in Paris: Chez Tonton Billy, Bastille

In my opinion, hot dogs are part of the American Dream – a dream within reach at Chez Tonton Billy, just a couple of minutes away from the Bastille metro station.
Rue de la Roquette, where the hot dog restaurant is established, is one of the prettiest streets in Paris, filled with shops, restaurants and cafes, and a great place to stroll around.
Chez Tonton Billy doesn’t only offer delicious hot dogs but also halal chicken sausages and vegan options, so everyone can enjoy a tasty mean without compromising their beliefs (always double check the halal status of restaurants as suppliers can change without notice).
For a handful of euros, you can get a full meal with a hot dog, fries and a drink – the fries are irregularly cut, fresh, authentic, crunch and yet melt-in-your-mouth outstanding.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Tandoori Time, 10th Arrondissement

Not too far from Gare du Nord, Tandoori Time is a small, unassuming restaurant that offers affordable menus: for under 10 euros, you can get one rice, meat and veggie menu – and leave the restaurant satisfied!
Tandoori Time’s cheese naans are especially great, served with a bit of butter on top, chewy, boiling hot and overall enough to visit again… and again.
It’s not the sexiest restaurant, but the flavors in this local joint, combined with the lassi available on the menu, are great enough that I visited a bunch of times over the years.

Best Restaurants in Paris: La Pate a Nouilles, 8th Arrondissement

La Pâte À Nouilles is more famous than a few other restaurants I’m sharing with you today, and with its location close to the Champs-Elysées, is easily accessible from several metro stations.
The handmade noodles at La Pâte À Nouilles are what attract many locals, and if you’re used to udon noodles, you’ll probably think they’re quite similar.
If there’s one dish I would recommend, it is the marinated beef, served in thin square slices and delicious with its black vinegar.
The duck noodle soup is easily one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten in Paris, with a mouth-watering broth and oh, so tender duck slices – and available to order as a menu!

Best Restaurants in Paris: Okyama, 15th Arrondissement

Okyama in the 15th arrondissement is a place I have been eating at for years now, and unlike many all-you-can-eat restaurants, offers high-quality sushi.
Chow mein noodles, beef and cheese skewers, California rolls, sea bream sushi… There’s just so much to try in this restaurant, one of the only restaurants I’ve ever tried that actually puts more fish than rice on their sushi!
It can get crowded with locals at rush hour, which is why I’d recommend visiting at the start of the service.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Factory & Co, La Défense

Now, let me tell you about Factory & Co in the 4 Temps Mall at La Défense: it’s like stepping into a little slice of New York.
The place is big, decorated with pop culture and American-inspired art, a place in which you feel comfortable to take your time, and given how delicious the burgers and pastries are, you will want to take your time to eat.
Factory & Co has vegan options on the menu – the vegan cheeseburger, made with a soy steak, surprisingly tastes like real meat!
And for peeps with a sweet tooth, the cheesecake is one of the best I’ve ever had in Paris, creamy, not too sweet, and with the most perfect crust.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Bagelstein, Various Locations

Bagelstein, at this point, has various locations all around Paris; the two branches I’ve visited the most are the one off Rue de Rivoli, and the one close to the Bonne Nouvelle metro station.
The Isidore bagel, a vegetarian option, is super filling and simply delicious, and cut in half to make for a better eating experience.
But if there’s one item I will never stop raving about when it comes to Bagelstein, it is their cheesecake. Compact, creamy, flavorful, it is hands down one of the best I’ve eaten ever.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Le Bambou, 13e Arrondissement

For years and years, I have been a regular client at Le Bambou, in the 13th Arrondissement, famous for its Asian restaurants and supermarkets.
Le Bambou is simply my favorite restaurant in the whole wide world, the very place I visit whenever I feel like eating a proper Vietnamese pho along with raw beef salad.
Despite prices going up everywhere, Le Bambou is still one of the most affordable restaurants in Paris to get authentic Vietnamese flavors – bustling, local, it’s a place I cannot recommend enough.

Best Restaurants in Paris: Homer All About Lobster

Homer All About Lobster is a place you would never expect to find in Paris – I actually discovered this restaurant on a French cooking show, and decided to visit while I was still working in Paris.
Located in the Marais, on rue Rambuteau, Homer All About Lobster offers classic American lobster rolls along with some twisted versions, and absolutely interesting sides.
The Connecticut lobster roll, with homemade mayonnaise, lemony butter and herbs is a brioche perfection, and coupled with a homemade dessert, makes for a satisfying lunch or dinner break.
The wasabi crisps, super spicy, and the Grilled Cheese with pickles are also must-order items – the XL menu costs around 20 euros, but that’s what it’ll cost you to taste the World’s Best Lobster Roll… And it’s definitely worth every penny!
