Ten years later, and while the blogging scene has very much changed (thank you, Google Core Updates!), you can still use Pinterest for blogging and actually drive traffic to your blog.

How to: Effective Pinterest Keywords Research for Bloggers
For years, I felt completely overwhelmed every time I heard or read and Pinterest marketing strategies – it just didn’t make sense to me that people were able to make money with Pinterest.
I didn’t even know that using the right keywords and Pinterest trends could actually help you drive people to your blog; hence my relying very heavily on Google and SEO to get my blogs found…
Big mistake.
I myself invested in a Pinterest course that has been popular for years, Carly’s Pinteresting Strategies, which opened my eyes about how to really use the platform.
It took a few months to really take off, but after using Pinterest for over two years, I have come to understand the exact way to really drive traffic to The Working Line – here’s what you can in turn implement for your blog!
How to find Pinterest Keywords?
It’s pretty easy, really, to run a Pinterest keyword search.
Type in a few different keywords related to the blog post you want to write.
In this case, I am looking for keywords for Pinterest related to ‘travel’. You will see in the dropdown list all the keywords most searched by Pinterest users.
So, how do you couple the keywords you’ve found with your blog post to drive traffic to your blog? You use them absolutely everywhere.
First of all, when writing your blog post – and to drive Pinterest traffic to your blog, you’re going to want to use those exact keywords found on Pinterest in your article.

Using Pinterest Keywords in Your Blog Posts To Drive Traffic
Not the Google ones only.
That was the biggest mistake I made when starting out, and even though I had thousands of pageviews every month on my travel blog, I had close to none from Pinterest.
Why?
Because I was feeding Google what it wanted, and completely left aside blogging on Pinterest.
I forgot about the Pinterest keywords that are so vital to a successful account!
So, the first tip is to implement Pinterest keywords in your post to drive traffic to your blog.
You can of course narrow down your keyword search, and it is always better to have a few different keywords all closely related in your blog post, creating a more important impact for your article once it’s out in the open.
I will later on write a series of blogging tips articles to have even more success as a blogger, with a broken down structure, headings, and metadata.
For now, make sure to use Pinterest keywords as much as possible, without stuffing your blog posts so much that it plays against you.

How To Make Money on Pinterest: Structure Your Business Account With Pinterest Keywords
Choosing the right Pinterest keywords is not enough to drive traffic for bloggers.
Just like simply sprinkling keywords in a blog post isn’t enough to have it rank nicely and fast on Google and other search engines, a whole structure is demanded if you want to find out how to many money on Pinterest with your blog.
Pinterest Traffic Tips For Bloggers: Create a Business Account
You’re going to need to structure your whole account, starting by recreating a full Business account.
Why a new business account, when you already have a Pinterest account that has quite a few followers? Because you’re already ranked as a ‘content consumer’, not a ‘content creator’.
And what you want to rank for, so you can make money on Pinterest with your blog in 2022, is the creator part of this search engine.
Once you’ve created your Pinterest business account, you’re going to need to create a few boards using the Pinterest keywords you’ve found in the dropdown list.
You can also observe how other bloggers with many monthly impressions do, what kind of keywords they use, and how their accounts are structured. You can gain valuable insights by studying their content strategies and identifying patterns that resonate with their audience. For instance, analyzing how they approach topics like “intermittent fasting side effects” can help you craft targeted posts that address common questions or concerns. Additionally, take note of their use of visuals, headlines, and calls to action to improve your own blog’s engagement and reach.

Pinterest Traffic Tips For Bloggers: Create Boards With Pinterest Keywords
Create your boards in a niche, for starters.
It’s the same thing as Google since Pinterest is a search engine – you won’t rank fast and high if your content is scattered across many topics.
At least, that’s my easy blogging Pinterest strategy to drive traffic to a blog.
Create boards with relevant keywords, add keywords in the board description as well, and pin a few dozens of pins relevant to the Pinterest keywords you’ve found.
Pretty easy, although time-consuming.
The thing is, it’s not all about keywords for Pinterest. Most of it is, but not everything.
It’s about being structured, and if you need to niche down (for instance, adding Japan Travel and China Travel in a bigger Asia Travel board), create a section for those niches.
However, do not create so many boards/sections that you won’t be able to keep up with them.
It’s easy to get lost in many Pinterest boards, and you need to feed them consistently.
I currently pin about 50-150 pins every day, depending on how many articles I write.

How To Use Pinterest For Blogging: Design Beautiful Pins
Pinterest strategies for bloggers might rely heavily on finding the right keywords for Pinterest.
But there’s something you shouldn’t overlook: Pinterest is a visual search engine.
That’s what makes its strength, really, but it also means you need to be especially careful with the pins you use.
I will, later on, write a more detailed article about designing Pinterest pins for bloggers that actually get clicks.
For now, keep this in mind: you need to couple your Pinterest keywords search with attractive pins if you want to drive traffic to your blog and make money on Pinterest.
Pinterest For Bloggers: Design Beautiful Pinterest Pins
Keep a structured pin design using Canva or PicMonkey, and alternate between your different pins.
Keep the same colors and fonts, so you build your brand.
It will help greatly to think properly about the color palette and fonts you want to be using for years to come to become a successful blogger.
Use attractive pictures – if you can take the pictures yourself, that is even better as Pinterest has a visual recognition tool that shows duplicate pictures.
Don’t forget that both Pinterest and humans will see your pins, so you need to please both.
So, if you can take your own beautiful pictures, it’s even better as it shows Pinterest that you actually bring fresh content to the platform.
In terms of font, you need to use fonts on your Pinterest pins that people can see while scrolling on their cellphone.
More than 80% of Pinterest users actually use Pinterest to look for ideas and inspiration from their phones – not their laptops.
Use big letters and catchy headlines with the exact Pinterest keywords that will make people want to click on your pins.
My best tip, really, would be for you to take a look at the type of pins that are already being published in your niche on Pinterest, and do something similar, with your own twist, and consistent with your style.

How To Use Pinterest For Blogging: Pin Consistently
There is no secret to success: either have pins going viral, or build up over time.
Since you can’t really know if and when a pin is going to go viral, you’re going to want to work day after day on your Pinterest account.
Of course, by following closely the Pinterest strategies for bloggers I’m sharing in this post, you will see that as time passes, you will drive more traffic to your blog.
The easy (but long) way is to pin consistently.
Just like Google, Bing, Yahoo, or even Instagram, Pinterest wants fresh, educative, helpful, and inspiring content that is relevant.
And you want to be relevant.
You will need to take into consideration the user intent and make sure that the blog post they’re finding after clicking on your pin actually delivers the content they’re looking for.
When you pin your own pins, do so with keywords for Pinterest in mind.
When you repin other people’s pins, make sure that their boards, description keywords and on-pin Pinterest keywords all align with the board you repin to.
That way, your board – and your account – both become stronger over time.
Drive Traffic Using Pinterest Keywords and Share Other People’s Pins
Pinning fresh, new pins, of course, needs to be done consistently if you want to see results and make money on Pinterest by driving more traffic to your blog.
Again, it will not happen overnight, but Pinterest, for bloggers, is still a surefire way to earn money.
It is definitely worth it to put the time in, as all the work you’re doing today will bear its fruits in the future.
However, when starting out, I would definitely recommend spending time sharing other people’s pins first.
Why?
Because they are more established, and obviously have already started gaining traction for the keywords you’ll want to rank for a while back.
Pin your own pins only once you’ve started gaining traffic to your own Pinterest account by sharing more established pins.
People will already acknowledge you as an account that talks about travel, food, or side hustles, and it will be easier to rank later with your own pins – using, as always, the Pinterest keywords you’ll have found in the dropdown list.

How To Use Pinterest For Blogging: Join Collaborative Pinterest Boards
Update: Pinning on personal boards is now more, way more important than pinning on collaborative boards.
Pinterest looks at both your personal boards and collaborative boards to know how to rank your pins.
This goes back to structuring your Pinterest board carefully, with thoughtful Pinterest keywords that people actually look for. It also goes back to the user intent.
Ask yourself this question: ‘What do I really want to rank for?’.
Although there are lots of Pinterest strategies and traffic tips for bloggers going around, I believe that starting out as a niche is the smartest thing to do.
Why?
Because it’s easier to rank for Pinterest keywords in niches that not everyone uses (that is what I did when I ranked my first travel blog for ‘halal restaurants’ on Pinterest).
If you want to diversify, pick niches that people actually look for: travel, lifestyle, everyday hacks…
Some niches are more successful on Pinterest than others, simply because they are what people know Pinterest for.
Blogging and side hustles.
Traveling to London, Rome or Paris.
How can you help people when they’re using their Pinterest keywords?
Take some time to answer that question, and you will know what to write about.
The thing is, with blogging as a business, you’re not only writing about what you want.
You have to know what people are looking for constantly (except when it comes to evergreen content) and align with what people want.
Offer and demand, whether we’re talking about Google or Pinterest keywords.

How To Use Pinterest For Blogging: Learn From Successful Bloggers
Nowadays, a lot of successful bloggers claim they have been able to drive traffic to their blog thanks to Pinterest, and offer their own Pinterest blogging course.
I have personally used a few courses (the best one I’ve used it the Pinteresting Strategies course I mentioned earlier) but I have also learned lots from observing how successful bloggers use Pinterest strategies.
Of course, unless you have a pin going viral, you will not gain overnight traction big enough to make a full-time income with your blog using Pinterest traffic tips.
However, they all pay close attention to a carefully structured Business account and learn from their Pinterest insights to know what blogging strategies work better to drive traffic to their blog.
