Anyone looking for the best MAC blush for dark skin, medium skin, brown skin and medium/dark Asian, Indian and olive skin… Welcome here today!
Some time ago, I told you a big bit about the best MAC blushes for fair skin and redheads.
I also promised that a guide for medium and dark skin was in the works, and it’s finally out!
14 Best MAC Blushes for Dark Skin & Medium Skin
When I started working at MAC Cosmetics in Paris and London, I was fresh out of makeup school.
I didn’t know much about what I was doing; six months of training is clearly not enough to.
It’s at MAC that I learned how to do makeup on black skin, Indian skin and medium skin properly.
And if there’s one thing that makes me happy on those skin tones, it’s are all the nice blush shades you can apply.
It goes from really plum blush to beautiful nude, and even, just like pale and fair skin, bright red blush applied with a light hand.
Whatever your skin tone, and whether you have skin with cool undertones or skin with warm undertones, you’ll find here plenty of options.
I have also added some MAC blush shades from the Glow Play range, which are currently some of the best MAC blushes, and the Extra Dimension range that I wrote a full review about some time ago.
Vivid rose-red (matte)
The first one, and the best MAC blush for dark skin, fair skin, medium skin and quite anyone, really, is the Frankly Scarlet blush.
I’ve mentioned it in my other guide to blushes for fair skin, and Frankly Scarlet adds a bit of va-va-voom to any look.
It all comes down to applying it very lightly.
Do so, and you’re sure to have the healthiest-looking blush of your life.
Don’t be put off by the bright red color though.
Mid tone yellow pink
Check out my full MAC Extra Dimension blush review to learn all about these little gems – you’ll see swatches of most of these beautiful blushes!
And the Sweets for My Sweet blush is clearly one of the best MAC blushes for medium skin and dark skin.
If you’re light-skinned but tend to tan easily, the MAC Extra Dimension blushes tend to adapt to the skin tone, which makes them pretty magical.
The finish? Shimmery.
The texture? Oh, so blendable.
The lasting time? All day.
And whether you’re after the best MAC blush for dark skin, tan skin or brown skin, yes indeed, the MAC Sweets for My Sweet blush is a keeper.
Dirty tangerine (matte)
Another one of the best MAC blushes for dark skin is the shade Burnt Pepper, from the classic range of powder blushes.
I can’t remember how many times exactly I’ve applied the Burnt Pepper blush on a dark skin.
But boy, does it make all the difference.
The shade is basically an equivalent of the Peaches blush for fair skin.
Described as a dirty tangerine, Burnt Pepper is one of the easiest-to-wear MAC blushes for medium skin and dark skin tones.
Soft reddish-burgundy (matte)
While I am mixing in this post the best MAC blushes for medium skin and dark skin, you will find that depending on how dark your skin is, some shades will suit you better.
I would typically not apply a mauve blush on anyone, except maybe medium skin, but if you just go a bit warmer-toned, like with the MAC Desert Rose blush, you can make it work.
A blush, after all, is made to mimic the flush of blood to the face, and with Desert Rose on medium skin, up to dark skin, you’ve got a beautiful pinkish shade.
Perfect to pair with the Soar lip liner, or something really dark like the Chestnut lip liner.
On the lips?
My go-to is always the MAC Lipglass in Clear, but some beautiful dark mauve lipstick would work really well.
Bright intense fuchsia (satin)
If you like the effect of the MAC Frankly Scarlet blush on your skin, and want to go a bit pinker and brighter, try Full Fuchsia.
That one is indeed the best MAC blush for dark skin when you want to pair it with a nude lipstick and some toned-down eyeshadow look.
I would actually go for something like a burgundy pink eyeshadow, apply the Full Fuchsia blush, and on the lips, something a bit more mauve, or just some clear lipgloss.
Golden reddish-brown (matte)
I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that the most famous MAC blush for dark skin is Raizin.
Like Burnt Pepper, I’ve sold many, many of those when I was working at MAC Cosmetics, and with good reason.
Just because bright colors work stunningly well on dark skin doesn’t mean nude isn’t an option, and when you want to go for a work look, the MAC Raizin blush is a must-have in your stash.
It’s that perfect shade of dark terracotta, and enhances the features beautifully.
I don’t know if you’ve personally ever done that, but given the texture of blushes, I also use them as transition shades for eyeshadow looks too.
Midtone rosy pink
The MAC Happy-Go-Rosy blush is actually more of a pick for medium skin, and tan Asian skin than it is for ultra-dark skin tones.
However, depending on the time of the year (when it’s the dead of winter and you haven’t tanned yet), this beautiful Mineralize blush can be a perfect option for black skin too.
The texture is smooth, really pigmented and the Happy-Go-Rosy blush is one of the easiest options to bring a healthy flush to the skin.
Pair with some coral lipstick, some type of gold eyeshadow maybe, or go extra-nude and pack on the blush!
Dirty burgundy with gold pearl
Where the MAC Happy-Go-Rosy blush is completely matte, the Love Thing blush has a pearly finish.
Stunning, not as shimmery as the Extra Dimension blushes, though.
And since burgundy blush is one of the best blush shades for dark skin, you’ll easily understand that the Love Thing blush was one of the items I’d sell the most at MAC Cosmetics.
Completely smooth, ultra-pigmented, it’s also part of the Mineralize blush range, and lasts all day.
And again, this is a perfect MAC blush for dark skin and medium skin, but also to be used as an eyeshadow on days you’re in a hurry.
Jewel tone purple
Now we’re getting into the topic of the MAC Glow Play blushes, and boy, are they some of the best MAC products ever created!
I would definitely see the MAC Rosy Does It blush on a dark skin with grey hair, maybe mature skin – between the purple and the silver, we’d have a great result.
The Glow Play blush range is really easy to use, and has this bounce to the texture that not only is pigmented, but playful AF.
I will mention two perfect shades in this guide for those looking for the best MAC blush for dark skin and medium skin, but there are others you can check out too, like a beautiful red blush!
Bright pinky coral
Second Glow Play blush for dark skin here, the MAC Groovy blush.
Totally different end of the spectrum here, with a bright reddish coral shade perfect to wear when it’s spring and summer.
Perfect to pair with some creamy MAC lipstick, something hydrating like the Hug Me lipstick, Cockney, or Ladybug.
The MAC Groovy blush clearly is one of these shades you wear when you want to feel confident, and when you pair it with some kind of fiery orange eyeshadow, it looks amazing.
Or you can go with a contrasted look, with some bright blue eyeliner, and on the lips, keep the same kind of color as this coral blush.
Peach with pearl (sheertone shimmer)
Sunbasque is more of a MAC blush for medium skin than dark skin; simply because it might be way too light for some black and dark Indian/Asian skin tones.
A beautiful mimic of sun-kissed skin is what you get when you wear the MAC Sunbasque blush, which is so wearable you’ll be able to do much more on the lips and eyes.
For instance, it’s time to take out some copper eyeshadow or gold eyeshadow when you’re wearing the Sunbasque blush.
Or, on the lips, go with some dark plum purple MAC lipstick, and leave the eyes bare.
There are many options to play around with when you’re getting a new blush, and that’s where all the magic lies.
Warm burgundy brown
Although the MAC Hard to Get blush does seem ultra-dark (and it is), it’s very easy to apply on Asian skin, medium skin and dark skin.
It does seem brown, but this tinge of reddish burgundy inside makes it a real blush – that can be worn as an eyeshadow too, if you’re into nude brown eyeshadows.
It boasts the same shimmery finish as the other MAC Extra Dimension blushes, and clearly is one of the most beautiful colors.
And since the texture is so different from a classic powder blush, this is definitely the time to take out your eyeliner brush, your mixing medium, and turn the Hard to Get blush into a metallic eyeliner if you wish to!
Another one of the best options for those looking for the best MAC blush for dark skin – Breath of Plum.
You’ve got here a completely matte plum blush, perfect to apply on dark skin and medium skin.
Heck, even if you’re after a MAC blush for olive skin, you can wear this one!
The fact that it’s so cool-toned, so pink does make it amazing on olive skin.
In any case, if you like plum/mauve blushes, Breath of Plum is clearly the best MAC blush for dark skin.
Medium dirty rose coral (sheertone)
Now, whether you have brown skin, Asian skin, medium skin or dark skin, the MAC Pinch Me blush is one of the best options ever created by the brand.
I love this one so much, and like Burnt Pepper and Raizin, I sold a loooot of these back in the day.
Super pigmented, very blendable, the Pinch Me blush is a mix of coral and pink mixed with some brown, which makes it one of the most magical MAC blush shades ever.
Some kind of pink-toned terracotta, if you will.
The possibilities, again, are endless.
14 Best MAC Blushes for Dark Skin & Medium Skin
Hopefully, you’ll have found here all the possible options if you were looking for the best MAC blush for dark skin and medium skin!
I’ve tried to offer you a wide range of shades and finishes.
It’s important, as one day, you might want to go extra nude on the eyes and lips, but let a highlighting blush to all the talking.
Another day, you might want to go big on the eyes, using some kind of rainbow eyeshadow palette, and tone down the blush.
In any case, you have here plenty of beautiful MAC blushes perfect for medium skin, brown skin and dark skin.
All that’s left to do is try out some new looks, and experiment your face in a new way!
Until next time!
