Welcome to this new post on The Working Line, and today, we’ll touch base on one of the latest – and best MAC eyeshadow palettes in this MAC Nude Model palette review!
A few years ago, back when I was still working at MAC in Paris, the brand released their Art Library collection.
Inside, you could find three pairs of fake eyelashes, three matte lipsticks and three eyeshadow palettes.
Since MUAs working at MAC are usually given a few products every time a new collection comes out, I was able to not only get the MAC You Wouldn’t Get It lipstick, but also the Nude Model palette.
At first, I have to admit I wasn’t that excited when I saw the nude eyeshadows in this palette – one more nude palette, meh.
You know me, I need colors, I need vivid and pigmented to be happy.
And then, I got to using the MAC Nude Model palette a few times.
My opinion changed.
The MAC Nude Model palette is made of twelve nude eyeshadows that range from the lightest pink eyeshadows to dark browns.
The whole color story revolves around pink and mauve nudes.
Some eyeshadows are a bit warmer, like the yellowish brown called Outre which, by the way, is a lighter dupe for the already existing MAC Uninterrupted eyeshadow.
In here, you can find seven matte shades, one satin and four Frost eyeshadows, for a total of 17.2g of eyeshadow.
The front of the palette is really nice, with the shades already painted on the lid.
The pattern is different according to which palette you’re using, Flame-Boyant, It’s Designer or the Nude Model palette.
Once I got over the ‘basic’ color story, basic in my MUA opinion who has owned hundreds of eyeshadow palettes in her life, I thought the MAC Nude Model palette was actually pretty interesting.
You would think that people know more about makeup today, but that’s actually a side effect of living half of our lives on blogs and Instagram.
The truth is, many people still don’t know how to do their own makeup, and many are even afraid of the colors in this palette.
In my experience from working at MAC Cosmetics and Kiko, many customers came in not knowing how to use one eyeshadow on its own – never mind two or three in a combo to create a more elaborate look.
And that is why, at the time I’m writing this review, the MAC Nude Model palette is the only one often sold out on the website.
I used this palette many times, using the Nude Model eyeshadow mostly, since is my favorite in the whole palette.
It’s super pigmented, has this nice pink/purple color and is super metallic.
If you can’t give me bright, at least give me a metallic eyeshadow, right ?
And you know what?
Aside from the fact that I’m not the biggest fan of neutral eyeshadows, this now permanent palette is good, really good.
Actually, the eyeshadows are more pigmented in these three new MAC eyeshadow palettes than in the single pans.
They’re much creamier and, all in all, much better than the classic eyeshadows.
The Frost eyeshadows might need to be wet and/or used with a finger to make them as intense as I like them to be, but the mattes are really great and blend very well.
When I used to need a nude palette on a photoshoot, the MAC Nude Model palette was the one I used to take with me – I was always asked what the brand was, and how much it costs.
All in all, a really, really good nude MAC eyeshadow palette – and worth every cent!
I know many a MUA working with me who would be using the MAC Nude Model palette, and I used to sell them by the dozen.
It’s just clearly one of the best nude eyeshadow palettes to get for fair skin up to medium skin.
If you have skin with cool undertones, or olive skin, the Nude Model palette is a really-pigmented gem that is perfect to wear on a daily basis!
Until next time!
