One of the best MAC products of all time is the Extra Dimension blush range, and that’s a fact.
Point blank, period.
And since I’ve gotten quite a handful of those, the time has come for me to write a complete review of the MAC Extra Dimension blushes with swatches!
When I started working for MAC Cosmetics in London and Paris, the Extra Dimension highlighting blushes are some of the very first products I became crazy about.
I was staring at them all the time, swatching them whenever I got the chance and guess where part of my first paycheck went? Yup, you got that right.
They might not be the cheapest blushes around, but then again, what MAC product is?
And while you can definitely find lots of MAC blush dupes, you’d be hard pressed to find the same quality and finish you’ll get when using the Extra Dimension blushes.
Review: MAC Extra Dimension Blush – Faux Sure to Cheeky Bits
I’ve already told you about some of the best MAC blush shades for fair skin a while back, and included one of these Extra Dimension blushes in there.
And to be fair, whether you’re looking for the best MAC blush for dark skin, Indian skin or Indian skin, those are winners all around.
They’re so versatile, pigmented and shimmery that all you want to do is actually apply them on your eyes!
There used to be eleven shades in the MAC Dimension blush range, and I had most of them, except the shades I deemed to light for my fair olive skin tone.
In this guide, you’ll see the following MAC Extra Dimension blush shades:
- Just Pinched
- Telling Glow
- Cheeky Bits
- Sweets for my Sweet
- Rosy Cheeks
- Faux Sure
- and Wrapped Candy
I left out four: Hard to Get, Hushed Tone, Fairly Precious and Into the Pink because I wasn’t as crazy about the colors.
I also didn’t have any room left in my MAC palette and didn’t want to make another one – simple.
Now, just about anyone with skin with cool undertones or skin with warm undertones can wear the shades I have.
However, Cheeky Bits and Faux Sure look exceptionally good on Middle-Eastern, Arabic women and Wrapped Candy looks amazing on black skin – as blushes.
Best MAC Blush: MAC Extra Dimension Blush Review
The MAC Extra Dimension blush formula is described as silky smooth, with highlighting blushes that give a polished look and reflect the light.
MAC Cosmetics also promises a lasting time of 6 hours on the skin for these, but I’ve found they actually last much longer – especially if you powder them.
Each shade can be bought separately.
The MAC Extra Dimension blush products actually come in a black case as the classic blushes do but there’s no refill available for you to put them in a Z Palette.
In terms of weight, you have 4 grams of product in each, which is quite a lot for a blush.
At the time I bought them, they used to retail for €28.50 in France, which makes them the most expensive MAC blushes along with the Mineralize blushes.
Yes, but.
They’re completely worth the price, and do let me know if you ever get to the bottom of even one shade.

Best MAC Blush: MAC Extra Dimension Blush Swatches
From top to bottom, here are all the MAC Extra Dimension blush swatches:
- Wrapped Candy
- Faux Sure
- Rosy Cheeks
- Sweets for my Sweet
- Cheeky Bits
- Telling Glow
- and Just Pinched
The first one I got as a welcoming gift at MAC was Telling Glow and I love it so much: it’s a bright orange blush shade on a red base with a golden sheen.
I told you in quite a few guides like the one to the best Colourpop eyeshadow palettes for brown eyes lately, that orange gold eyeshadows and orange gold blushes are a vibe for me.
So Telling Glow and Cheeky Bits, the orange one with an even redder base, are my very favorite MAC Extra Dimension blush shades, pretty understandably.
But to be honest, they all look amazing on fair skin (I’m an NW15), even the purple Wrapped Candy when I applied it with a light hand!
By the way, you might want to double check, because I think the MAC Wrapped Candy blush is not available in all countries.
Yet, I loved the fact that I could apply those MAC blushes dry on my unpowdered skin and they wouldn’t make stains.
They apply super smoothly, as the formula is a mix between powder and cream.
I had also taken to using the Extra Dimension blushes wet, and that used to make my life so easy when I was late for work as I would apply the same blush on my face and wet on my eyes with some Fix+.

Best MAC Blush: MAC Extra Dimension Blush Eye Swatches
On the first picture, I’m wearing the MAC Extra Dimension blush in Rosy Cheeks, and Wrapped Candy on the second – you see how pigmented these can get once wet!
Even when I didn’t set my foundation with powder, I saw they last way more than 6 hours on my face; that makes those babies a worthy investment.
If you want to use these as a highlighter, you really need to go with a super light hand.
The MAC Extra Dimension blush products can actually almost only be used as highlighters by medium and dark skin tones.
For example, on my fair skin, there was only one MAC Extra Dimension blush I could wear as a highlighter, Just Pinched.
But even then, you can still kind of figure out it’s a blush, so you need to be really careful with the placement.
I’d recommend you get one of the even lighter shades like Fairly Precious or Into the Pink if you’re as fair-skinned as I am and want to use them as highlighters.

Review: MAC Extra Dimension Blush – Faux Sure to Cheeky Bits
I’ve been loving and using these Extra Dimension blushes ever since I brought them home, and I’ve got only one regret; depotting them.
These are not like the classic blushes which are pressed in a metallic pan.
There’s only a white plastic grid underneath that doesn’t protect them anymore if you depot the Extra Dimension blushes.
That’s why I thought of breaking them down (bye bye cute embossment…!) and press them in metallic pans at some point.
The fact is that when I was still doing makeup on photo shoots, I could not use them because they just couldn’t leave my makeup stash. For sure, they would have been broken by the time I got on set!
If you’re curious, just go to the nearest MAC store and swatch them.
Don’t be afraid when you see how metallic and pigmented they can get.
With a blush brush, you can get a super natural finish that looks stunning, and colors that can double as great eyeshadows from spring to winter!
Until next time!
