What eye color does blue eyeliner look best on?

Well, while I would like to say that green eyes can wear electric blue eyeliner, you’ll have to choose a warmer shade to suit your eye color.

Something like a really teal eyeliner, almost turquoise – something too cool-toned and it might look a little bit off (there are always exceptions, so make sure you try the look before signing it off for good!).

If you have blue eyes, go for some kind of navy blue eyeliner or cobalt blue – something really cool-toned, this time.

Teal also looks great on blue eyes, so as long as the color of your blue eyeliner is different from your eye color, go for it.

Brown eyes are actually eyes on whom any type of liquid or gel blue eyeliner can look gorgeous.

Whether you choose some cobalt blue, navy blue or teal, you will make it work.

What skin tone does blue eyeliner look best on?

Then, it all depends on your skin tone if you want to know how to enhance your features further.

On skin with cool undertones, all kinds of blue eyeliner will look top-notch.

On medium to dark skin tones with warm undertones, the brighter you go, the bigger the contrast – and the more beautiful the result.

I used to use the Barry M Caution eyeliner a lot, and since I have hazel eyes, I found that cobalt blue, teal and navy blue eyeliners all look really good on me.

It also depends on your skin tone, too, though.

I have fair skin with olive undertones (NW15 in MAC foundation and 1.2 P in The Ordinary foundation), just so you can situate where I am.

If you have olive skin or skin with cool undertones, blue eyeliner looks really good on that type of skin.

And since the Barry M Hi-Vis Caution eye pencil retails for less than 4 pounds in the UK, and not much more in the US, that’s a winner.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: MAC Colour Excess Perpetual Shock

I mentioned the MAC Colour Excess Perpetual Shock in my guide to the best MAC eye liner and eye pencil shades, and here it is again!

If you’d like to find an electric blue eyeliner that you don’t have to sharpen, that may be the best option for you.

It’s just a little bit darker than the Barry M Hi-Vis Caution eye pencil, and another one of the really good MAC products for the eyes.

The Colour Excess Perpetual Shock gel eye pencil is completely waterproof, too.

And while it does retail for more than a drugstore blue eyeliner, you will find you can wear it in the waterline as well on the eyelids, and even use it for face painting.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: Inglot Gel Eyeliner 67

Then, you have one of my favorite, and probably one of the best cobalt blue eyeliners for brown eyes and blue eyes: the Inglot Gel Eyeliner 67.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: NYX Epic Wear Liner Turquoise Storm

Last year, I got the NYX Epic Wear Liner in the shade Turquoise Storm, and I loved it.

NYX started out with only a few shades in the Epic Wear Liner range, and sometime at the end of 2022, they released even more beautiful shades.

Now, in that collection, you have everything from lavender eyeliners to pink, orange eyeliners, and even some dark mint eyeliner shades.

Turquoise Storm is another one of the best drugstore blue eyeliner shades I can recommend, since it is a teal eyeliner, completely waterproof, and smudge proof.

I have hooded eyes, which prevents me from wearing any kind of product that is not waterproof -especially if I know it’s going to stain the upper eyelid.

This one retails for less than $10 and if you prefer eye pencils rather than gel eyeliners or liquid eyeliners, then take a look at the NYX Epic Wear liner sticks.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: 3ina The Color Pen Eyeliner 830

Then, you have the 3ina Color Pen eyeliner in the shade 830.

This one is going to be perfect if you’re new to doing liners, and want something very easy to handle as it’s a felt tip blue eyeliner.

I have gotten a lot of the 3ina products back in the day, and now that they have rebranded their entire line, from matte lipsticks to incredible cream eyeshadows, you should check them out for real.

3ina used to have a store in London, right in the heart of Covent Garden, and withdrew a few years ago.

They have just gotten back to the UK, and the range is available in Superdrug stores – you can find many of the 3ina bestsellers there.

In the Color Pen range, there isn’t only one blue eyeliner available.

They have actually other colors, from red eyeliner to pink, brown, and obviously, a beautiful black eyeliner perfect for everyday wear.

If you check out the shade 850 from the same Color Pen eyeliner collection, you will find a lighter blue eyeliner as well.

That one would look perfect on blue eyes, green eyes or brown eyes, but for blue eyes and brown eyes specifically, I would recommend getting the Color Pen eyeliner 830.

Best Liquid Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: Lush Motivation Eyeliner

I used to have the Lush Motivation eyeliner, and could actually not believe how high-end the finish felt.

It is a beautiful teal eyeliner with an almost duochrome gold shimmer.

It comes in the pot as shown in the picture, and you have to use an eyeliner brush to use it.

Despite that, it is very pigmented and a little bit goes a very long way – actually, I have never been able to finish mine.

If you’re looking for a beautiful green eyeliner, Lush also offers one in the shade Courage (you’re going to want to check that one out, mamma mia!).

I will be talking about other colorful eyeliners later on, including obviously green eyeliners.

But for now, if you’re looking for a teal blue eyeliner for blue eyes, green eyes or brown eyes, this is one of the best you can get.

It lasts all day.

It is very easy to apply and use.

It dries fast, but you still have enough time to work with the product before it’s dry.

The only downside to the Lush Motivation liquid eyeliner is that it stains.

So what you want to do is either use some powder underneath, or one of my favorite MAC products, the Paint Pots, to really protect your eyelids from getting stained.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: Juvia’s Place Nubian Pencil Royal

I couldn’t really choose the best blue eyeliner from Juvia’s Place so I chose to include two.

If you’re looking for the best navy blue eyeliner for blue eyes, brown eyes and green eyes, check out the shade Midnight Blue. It will look gorge on anyone.

However, if you’re looking for the best cobalt blue eyeliner for blue eyes, the Juvia’s Place Royal eye liner is one of the best picks out of this entire guide.

This is probably one of the blue eyeliners I would apply on very fair skin with warm undertones, like on a blonde or a redhead.

However, as you might know, the Juvia’s Place products are created for dark skin.

By extension, they also look stunning on very fair skin because they’re ultra pigmented.

Also, if you’re more of the kind of person who likes retractable eye pencils rather than liquid, felt tip or gel eyeliners, this is probably one of the best picks for you.

I’ve never really talked about the Kylie Cosmetics products here on The Working Line.

Yet, if there is one blue eyeliner you should get for brown eyes and blue eyes, it is the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Blue gel eyeliner pencil.

There are other amazing blue eyeliners, and many other shades in the range.

They are completely waterproof, super long wearing, and absolutely pigmented.

The color is very different from other cobalt blue eyeliners you might find, since it is a little bit more muted and perfect for wintertime or spring.

The Kylie Cosmetics Matte Blue gel eyeliner can look amazing with some mauve blush and mauve lipstick.

Or, you can create a double eyeliner with this one as a base, and a sharp black eyeliner wing on top.

Best Navy Blue Eyeliner: Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl Midnight Blue

I think the Urban Decay Glide On 24/7 eye pencils need no introduction anymore.

I’ve talked more about the Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes than their eyeliners, that’s true.

However, they are absolutely waterproof, and stunning on brown eyes, green eyes, and blue eyes.

There are a lot of different shades in there, from beautiful burnt orange eyeliner to purple eyeliner in the 24/7 range, but the Chaos eyeliner is the most interesting.

Why?

Because it is super pigmented, waterproof, long-lasting, does not budge, and does not smudge.

The color is that almost muted electric blue, and I would definitely see this one on medium skin with some MAC Whirl lipstick on the lips.

On very fair skin, with some very light pink lipstick, it would also look banging, and you wouldn’t take the spotlight away from the eyes.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: Kiko Super Colour Eyeliner 06 Blue

I’ve told you hear about the best Kiko products time and time again, and one of them is the Super Colour eyeliner in 06 Blue.

I will mention another one later in this guide.

But for anyone looking for a bright, electric blue eyeliner shade, take a look at this one, as it is super affordable, and absolutely long-lasting.

I used to have quite a few shades of the Kiko eyeliners, including this one, so my pro-tip would be:

Do not forget to shake the eyeliner so the pigment mixes well before you apply it on your eyes.

This is a felt tip blue eyeliner liquid, which means you will need to know how to handle eyeliner before you use this one.

Gel eyeliners are much easier to use when you’re a beginner in makeup, but the fact that this one has a felt tip should help you apply it to perfection.

You really don’t want any mistakes as it is completely waterproof, and you will need an oil-based makeup remover to get rid of it.

Best Blue Eyeliner for Brown Eyes: Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen Cobalt Blue

Then, for anyone, looking for a liquid teal eyeliner for blue eyes or green eyes, you will need to take a look at the Kiko New Super Colour eyeliner in 04 Green Teal.

It comes from the same range as the bright blue eyeliner I’ve mentioned above, and it is one of the most beautiful, waterproof blue eyeliners you will ever come across.

When I tell you that teal eyeliner and teal eyeshadows are incredible, I really mean it.

Teal brightens up any kind of skin tone, from really pale to really dark, and even Asian skin can wear teal or turquoise eyeliner.

This one dries quite fast, so as I said before for the cobalt blue eyeliner from the same range, you will have to know how to handle a felt tip eyeliner if you want the result to be perfect.

But in any case, whether you have medium skin, dark skin, brown eyes, blue or green eyes, the New Super Colour eyeliner in Green Teal is another one of my must haves.

On dark skin, I would probably apply the MAC Spice lip liner all over the lips as a lipstick.

On really fair skin, you could also try to go for a bright red lipstick, or even a very dark purple lipstick.

With teal on your eyes, the possibilities are endless, and seeing as the Kiko Green Teal eyeliner retails for just around $10, you have a winner all round.

Last on our list is the Maybelline Tattoo Studio liner in Deep Teal.

Maybelline has released a full range of Tattoo Liner shades, which are waterproof, described as semi permanent, and give a very long lasting finish.

You have every shade in there, from beautiful black eyeliner to really pigmented white eyeliner, and if you are into makeup, you know that getting a really pigmented white eyeliner is difficult.

You really have a lot of shades in there, that’s true, but the best blue eyeliner from Maybelline is the shade Deep Teal.
