Let’s start with the oh-so-beautiful Crystal Palace Park in South East London, one of my absolute favorites parks in London, not only because of the huge dinosaur sculptures, but also because of the ponds and blooming flowers at spring time.

If you get the chance, you’ll also find nearby, one of the most secret museums in London – the Crystal Palace Museum, with its many statues in the garden.

The West Hampstead neighborhood, where I resided for a few months during my last months living in London, offers some really pretty streets lined with colorful houses and blooming trees.

If you’re looking for kind of alternative places to visit during spring in London, West Hampstead is a place you shouldn’t miss.

In addition, there are many cool cafes in West Hampstead and Kilburn where you can chill for a bit, or study with your laptop.

You’ll also find some really cool shops there, including, of course, Superdrug and Boots for drugstore makeup, and charity shops galore.

Most Beautiful Places to See Nature in London: Highgate Cemetery

If you’d like to craft proper nature walks in London, a favorite spot of mine to spend a few hours in when the days are getting warmer is the Highgate Cemetery.

I have a preference for the West side, less structured than the East side, and also the very place where you’ll find hidden gems such as the Egyptian Avenue and the Lebanon Circle.

It’s definitely a secret place you would never expect to see in London.

Those looking for exclusively floral places in London would do better to look elsewhere for blooming flowers, but whoever would like to enjoy some time in one of the quietest places in town will find peace and calm at the Highgate Cemetery.

Holly Village in Highgate, near the Highgate Cemetery, is a residential complex offering some of the most beautiful buildings in London – Gothic houses which feel like an alternative Alice in Wonderland place.

Holly Village is a private property, but all around this agglomeration of gorgeous houses is pure, green, vibrant nature which makes for the perfect spring walk start.

While I was very well acquainted with the St Alphage Garden, which is one of London’s medieval places, and a beautiful one at that, I only discovered the Salters’ Garden a few months ago.

With Medici vases, a huge piece of the historic London Wall, ponds and pergolas, the Salters’ Garden is one of the most secret gardens in London.

If you’ve been here before, you probably know that I am fond of anything even remotely close to history, especially Rome’s and London’s history.

Check out Floral Court to admire a hidden courtyard with a wooden elephant sculpture, for starters, and pop by the Covent Garden Piazza to see the flower-filled wooden wagons dotted around the square.

The Dutch Garden is undeniably one of the prettiest places to see flowers in bloom in London, and there are a few hidden gems scattered all around it:

  • A full painted fresco on one of the sides
  • A sundial (there are more sundials in London than you’d think!)
  • A fountain with benches all around, perfect for a picnic
  • And even a few sculptures, including Italian-inspired sculptures

From spring to autumn in London, a visit to the Kyoto Garden is always a great idea, especially because it’s located not too far from Notting Hill’s colorful houses.

Whether you want to admire the peacocks and koi carps, lose yourself in a quaint Japanese garden or have been looking for spots with waterfalls in London, Kyoto Garden has them all.

When it’s cherry blossom season, the Japanese garden definitely is more crowded, and not that good of a photo spot if you’re looking to get yourself photographed.

However, early in the morning, it’s a great place to read in London, and, well, being near water always helps to do some self-reflection as well.

How many times have I told you about the Inner Temple Gardens, Elm Court and Temple Church, just off Fleet Street?

I’ve lost track.

However, for those looking for hidden gardens in London, the Inner Temple Gardens, as well as the secluded Hare Court, a few seconds away from Temple Church, are a perfect spot to enjoy both nature and incredible architecture.

When I used to live in Bethnal Green and Mile End, the Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park was one I visited quite often, as it offers both a creepy and soothing atmosphere.

This is one of London’s Seven Magnificent cemeteries, a huge park with those English-style tombstones on which you can still read touching words, along with many sculptures and statues.

Those in search of pure nature in London would do well to visit, also because it’s one of the completely free things to do along the Central Line, with Mile End station located less than 10 minutes away on foot.

Where to See Beautiful Nature in London: Regent’s Canal, Camden Town

One of the best things to do during the spring in London is to walk along Regent’s Canal, and it will take you hours to walk it all.

If you’re a fan of hiking, you’ll most probably love it.

What I particularly enjoy about Regent’s Canal is that it goes through many London neighborhoods, including Canary Wharf, Southbank, Mile End, Bethnal Green, Poplar and Camden Town.

The small basin at Camden Town is a gorgeous place to visit, if only to see the majestic weeping willow towering over Regent’s Canal.

Then, of course, if you’re looking for cool things to do in Camden Town, you’ll find nearby lots of secret street food spots, very unique shops, and even a couple of great museums.

If you find yourself around Mile End’s part of Regent’s Canal, I would recommend you pop by three places nearby:

Out of the really cool things to do in Canary Wharf, popping by the Crossrail Place Roof Garden once in a while is something I particularly enjoy, as you are surrounded with exotic plants there.

Plus, the Crossrail Place Roof Garden, in addition to being a completely free place to visit in London, also has a roof open in some places, which allow you to enjoy the view on the skyscrapers from below.

Walk around Canada Water and Westferry Circus to enjoy all the benefits of the proximity with water and nature; from Westferry Circus, the clear view of the Thames River always helps me clear out my thoughts efficiently.

Where to See Beautiful Nature in London: The Vaults Collective Coffee Shop and Plant Shop

Close to the Crystal Palace Park, The Vaults Collective, a secret coffee shop and plant shop, is another one of the coolest, albeit alternative places to see nature in London.

This is the perfect place for a completely vegan breakfast in London, since The Vaults Collective is a vegan cafe, and there, the oh-so-tasty unicorn poop blondie is a multicolor pastry you’ve likely never tried before.

The plant shop is gorgeous, and blooming at all times of the year, but beyond that, the collection of cute homeware, gardening books and other souvenirs make The Vaults Collective one of London’s most unique shops – and a must-visit.

Where to See Beautiful Nature in London: Reflection Garden, St Paul’s Cathedral

The Reflection Garden has always been one of my favorite City of London hidden gems.

The small, clean pond with its straight view on St Paul’s Cathedral will make you feel all types of meditative ways.

Few people are aware of the fact that the Reflection Garden is actually one of London’s secret church gardens, as it was established, like many others of the kind, on the site of a former church destroyed during the Great Fire of London in 1666.

That’s always the case of two gardens easily accessible on foot nearby, two which you should visit if you want to be blown away:

After checking out the Reflection Garden, here are two options to continue your London walk:

  • Check out the One New Change rooftop, one of London’s free rooftops, just a few seconds away, which offers straight views on St Paul’s Cathedral
  • Or cross the Millenium Bridge, a famous Harry Potter location, to reach Southbank and, further to your left, London Bridge
