Ore Cafe Brompton Review: Instagrammable Cafes in London

Just a few days ago, I was roaming around the pretty streets in Chelsea, and while the area is quite far from where I live, I had one idea in mind: finding one of the most underrated, instagrammable cafes in London.

And I found lots of little coffee shops near Harrods, among which Ore Cafe on Brompton Road. I have to say I was looking for luxury cakes in London, but I was more feeling something like Elan Cafe, just a few doors down.

What decided my visit Ore Cafe Brompton instead of El&n Cafe? I wanted to live a truly instagrammable experience, and what’s best than doing it in one of the cutest halal cafes in London? Because yes, Ore Cafe Brompton offers halal food, in addition to lots of Instagram-worthy cakes and other rose lattes.

One of the most instagrammable cafes in London, for sure – but is it good? Read on to discover my review of Ore Cafe Brompton!

If you would like to discover more amazing food in London, here are a few restaurant reviews I’ve written for you guys:

Ore Cafe is a decently-sized and quite instagrammable cafe in the heart of Knightsbridge, in West London.

It is literally located 5 minutes from Harrods, and super close to El&n Cafe, one of the coffee shops in Knightsbridge you might have seen already, with its super pink cafe interior and flowers everywhere.

I’m more of a street food kind of girl, as you might have seen in my review of Beigel Shop Brick Lane, although I love my fine dining restaurants from time to time.

However, I have to admit I had never been to a fancy cafe in Knightsbridge, or anywhere for that matter. But I do know my pastries, especially French pastries, and I do know my coffee – you are not French and living in Italy without knowing both of these.

Ore Cafe Brompton: Inside The Cafe

Ore Cafe Brompton, with its dark and golden interior, is definitely one of the most instagrammable cafes in London. You really feel good as soon as you pass the threshold, and you really expect a fancy experience.

On the wall, the most surprising feature is the running water wall, and the huge flower bouquets add to the luxury experience.

A lot of instagrammable cafes in London now use flowers, as they have gotten the memo – huge flowers equal Instagram posts. At Ore Cafe Brompton, the decoration really is beautiful, and the leather seats make the experience even more high-end and enjoyable.

Ore Cafe Brompton Menu

I have to say that what attracted me to Ore Cafe Brompton in the first place is the number of colorful cakes in the window shop.

If you’re feeling like a taste of luxury cakes in London, coffee shops in Knightsbridge definitely are a place to be.

Countless dishes and cakes are featured on the menu at Ore Cafe Brompton, with wraps, salads, and halal breakfast options being plenty.

The Knightsbridge coffee shop definitely has a more Arabic touch to it, although you can find some Turkish and Lebanese options here and there.

What I thought was a bit weird was the presence of penne pasta and lasagna on the menu when we’re at a clearly Arabic place, but I guess you need to offer choice to everyone.

At least, if you’re looking for halal restaurants in Knightsbridge, Ore Cafe Brompton is the place where you’ll find both instagrammable cakes in London, and a fully halal breakfast or brunch.

On the drinks menu at Ore Cafe Brompton, there is anything you might wish for, from specialty coffee to various teas, fresh juices, smoothies, and the classic coffee options like Espresso and Mocha, with a Middle Eastern touch if you choose Arabic or Turkish coffee.

This drinks menu was probably one of the most extensive I’ve ever seen, and if you’re a lover of rose latte, chai latte ,or Spanish latte, Ore Cafe Brompton has them all on the menu.

Ore Cafe Brompton: What I Ordered

In the huge list of food and drink options available at Ore Cafe Brompton, I managed to find two things I really wanted:

  • a raspberry macaron (the name and the price wasn’t written anywhere, so I guess that’s what it was)
  • a rose latte

Ore Cafe Brompton Review: Raspberry Macaron

You have to know, and I told you so in my review of the French patisserie Belle Epoque Patisserie in Islington, that I know what a good macaron is. I also know what a great macaron is – I have been eating macarons since I was little since you can literally find them in any French bakery.

A good macaron needs to crack swiftly under the teeth, and the ganache or marmalade needs to compliment the shell.

Macarons are such a technical little piece of patisserie to bring to life that whether you’re in luxury cafes in London or buy them from the French patisserie from the angle of the road, you’re sure to cash out a beautiful penny.

I have to say I was disappointed with the Ore Cafe Brompton macaron. For starters, the price wasn’t written anywhere, which was the first hint that it was going to be pricey.

I did not like the fact that sugar syrup was added as a homemade touch to the already extra sweet macaron, as it clearly didn’t need extra sugar.

The macaron shell was nice, albeit very sweet, again – and I’m a person who loves their sugar fix. The cream inside was very nice, and the overall macaron could have benefitted from a more tangy flavor with some kind of raspberry reduction.

Ore Cafe Brompton Review: Rose Latte

I really appreciated the small heart drawn on my rose latte, but aside from this, the flavor of the rose syrup was practically inexistent. I don’t know if all the coffee shops near Harrods use the same kind of recipe for their rose latte.

What I do know is that at Bru Coffee in Walthamstow, one of the best cafes to work in East London even if it doesn’t have that luxury cakes feel, you can almost feel too much rose syrup in the rose latte.

The rose latte from Ore Cafe Brompton came in a small transparent cup, and it really wasn’t worth £6.50 at all, even if I get that these are the average prices of the Knightsbridge/Harrods cafes area.

Instagrammable Cafes in London: Ore Cafe Brompton Review & Final Thoughts

All in all, Ore Cafe Brompton is definitely one of the most instagrammable cafes in London. There’s nothing to be said about the aesthetic of their luxury cakes and the interior of the Knightsbridge coffee shop.

Plus, if you’re ever looking for halal restaurants in Knightsbridge or near Harrods, it’s always good to have that option.

However, that is one cake boutique in London that I’m not sure I’ll eat at again unless some improvements are made to the menu.

The macaron was overly sweet, and the latte lacked serious flavor. Both cost me about £16 with the service charge, making Ore Cafe Brompton one of the definitely most expensive cafes in Knightsbridge and in London.
