Some time ago, we told you here about all the spots to grab the best pastel de nata in London, and a must-visit spot is Lisboa Patisserie, in Notting Hill.
Whether you want to have a really nice breakfast in Notting Hill before popping by the nearby Portobello Market or want to find your new favorite bakery, Lisboa Patisserie has one advantage over many, many pastry shops in London…
In that it’s still very affordable.
Affordable food in Notting Hill? Yessir.
So if you’re looking for the best Portuguese pastries in London, keep reading this review and you’ll learn everything there is to know about Lisboa Patisserie!
Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill, London’s Authentic Portuguese Pastry Shop
Accessing Lisboa Patisserie from Notting Hill Gate station means you’ll have to walk down Portobello Road for quite some time.
However, since this is one of the most colorful streets in Notting Hill, the walk proves interesting for both solo travelers and families.
I have only been to Lisbon once, finding all kinds of cute study cafes and instagrammable spots, and I remember full well my favorite pastel de nata shop, on Rua Augusta.
The creamy egg tarts were probably the best part of this trip, and the indie pastry shop on Golborne Road are probably the closest reminder I have of the Lisbon treats.
Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill London Review: Location & Atmosphere
One thing that most tourists don’t know about Portobello Road when visiting London for the first time is that the more you walk towards Golborne Rd, the more street art you will find.
Actually, one of my favorite things to do in Notting Hill is to find all the small pieces of street art scattered on Portobello Road and nearby streets.
In a place like Notting Hill, where you would expect more posh, fancy restaurants, Lisboa Patisserie would almost seem out of place if their products weren’t absolutely perfect.

Indeed, most of the Portuguese population in London lives around Stockwell and South London, and Golborne Road actually bears the nickname of ‘Little Morocco’, due to the high concentration of Moroccan people in the area.
As a half French, half Moroccan woman, I had always found it hard to find good Moroccan restaurants in London – until I came to know about Golborne Road.

Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill London Review: Menu & Prices
Lisboa Patisserie is quite spacious, but seemingly lacks in seating space – there are always queues of people waiting to try their delicious Portuguese coffee and pastries.
The first time I visited the pastry shop, I felt like I’d been transported back to Lisbon cafes, which I loved to hang out at.
Same mosaics, same colors, same beautiful Portuguese accent singing in your ears, and a lively spot – that’s what Lisboa Patisserie is all about.

Nowadays, finding really good and cheap breakfast in London has gotten really difficult – inflation and whatnot means that cheap eats are more important than ever.
I have found that Lisboa Patisserie is still one of the cheapest places to get a delicious breakfast in Notting Hill for just a handful of pounds.

Heck, with less than a tenner, you’re able to buy 4 or 5 pastries!
Much cheaper than other equally delicious spots like Belle Epoque Patisserie and Bread Ahead Bakery, and perfect if you’re trying to save money.
Especially since we really have to watch our budget and know how to save money on groceries to be able to afford eating out when living in London!

The menu is varied, with all kinds of espresso, latte and cappuccino drinks you would almost only expect in London’s Italian cafes.
But since Portugal is really all about its coffee, it does make sense that you would get here strong cups of coffee and, obviously, beautiful pastries as well.
From pastel de nata to stunning bolo de arroz and Bola de Berlim, Lisboa Patisserie offers all kinds of really affordable pastries that prove very satisfying when enjoyed while walking around the pretty London neighborhood.
Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill London Review: What I Ordered
I popped by Lisboa Patisserie in the middle of an afternoon, and after queuing for a few minutes, I learned that all pasteis de nata were sold out.
Bummer – that’s how popular they are, and that really tells you about the quality of the Lisboa Patisserie pastries.
I decided to order a similar pastry to pastel de nata, another kind of egg tart with a crusty base instead of a flaky one, as well as a bolo de arroz and an espresso.

The kind of egg tart I ordered was made with coconut and felt less smooth in texture than a pastel de nata, if you want some kind of comparison.
It felt more filling, with more of a cake texture than the famous flan-texture of the pastel de nata.
When it comes to the bolo de arroz, this is one of my favorite pastries in the whole wide world, something I like as much as Italian maritozzi.
The texture oscillates between a sponge cake and a muffin (long shot), and the mix of eggs and coconut in the dough makes the bolo de arroz another one of the best pastries at Lisboa Patisserie.

Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill London Review: Final Thoughts
If you manage to get a seat at Lisboa Patisserie, just go for it – there are lots of cute bakeries in Notting Hill and perfect cafes you can also work at, but this one is strictly pleasure.
There’s a high turnover there, with people popping in for a coffee and a bite before going on to work, or to visit Portobello Market.
The prices are very reasonable, the pastries are made in-house and fresh and the coffee is strong – what else could you wish for, really?

Lisboa Patisserie Notting Hill, London’s Authentic Portuguese Pastry Shop
I think ‘ethnic’ bakeries are one of the things I miss most about London when I’m abroad – part of the year, I live in Rome, and while Roman bakeries are incredible, London’s diversity is very much missed.
If you’re a Portuguese person living in London, if you’re a local or a tourist trying to find authentic pastel de nata, or if you’d just like to discover something new, Lisboa Patisserie is definitely the way to go.
Until next time!
