I can’t recall exactly how many times I’ve mentioned Maison Assouline, on Piccadilly, here – it really is one of my favorite London hidden gems I’ve found in recent years.
I seem to spend lots of time in quiet places; it’s true I love reading, and I love aesthetic anything.

London’s Beautiful Bookshops: Maison Assouline Photos
Located on Piccadilly, in the heart of Central London, Maison Assouline is the flagship boutique of Assouline Publishing, a luxury publisher renowned for its breathtaking coffee-table books.
Not only is the inside of the wonderful bookshop a sight in itself, but it’s also housed in a grade II-listed building, that of a former bank designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and built in 1922.
As you step into Maison Assouline, you’re welcomed by the smell of freshly-printed pages, wood paneling and a proper Dark Academia vibe that makes you want to treat yourself to every book displayed.
There’s also a hospitality space where you can get coffee or even a snack – you really can’t get more upscale when it comes to bookshop cafes.
