I’ve always loved living in London, even when it was hard because of, well, living there on a budget – but that’s how I found that you can really make do with little money there.
I’ve come across so many amazing charity shops in which I bought clothes for a pound or two, I’ve found many cheap things to buy there, and I’ve found many, many cheap spots to eat.
What about homeware and home decor though?
They’re usually some of the most expensive things to buy – and when you move to London, you’re not too sure where to go, since most big homeware stores are located in the outer boroughs.

That’s why I thought this post dedicated to the best cheap homeware stores in London could come in handy – I wish I’d found a full guide like so before I first moved to London.
From B&M to the super cheap Poundland, Homesense and Flying Tiger, you’ll find here over a dozen London shops to visit for anything from scented candles to art prints, light furniture, mirrors and whatnot.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: B&M
I only found out about B&M stores when I lived in Tottenham, North London – that was actually one of my last homes in London before I moved to West Hampstead.
B&M is a really popular discount retailer in the UK, and the Tottenham shop definitely is huge.
You’ll find there lots of decor, furniture, affordable homeware and pretty much everything you need for your place.
In addition to seasonal home decor and various household items (bins, bathroom essentials, kitchenware, bedding…), you’ll find at B&M some really cheap makeup and even snacks and groceries.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: TK Maxx
TK Maxx is one of my favorite budget shops in London, and one I can’t stop raving about – I’ve bought many, many scented candles there over the years, in addition to clothes, stationery and, let’s say it, things I didn’t even need at all.
If you’re looking for the biggest TK Maxx shops in London, do read the guide I’ve written so you know which branches to visit from the get-go (if you’re going to go to Tottenham’s B&M store, might as well go to TK Maxx there too).
TK Maxx offers lots of seasonal decor pieces and homeware items, and whether you’re looking for trendy kitchen gadgets or beautiful bedding sets, you’ll find plenty to treat yourself to there.
Since TK Maxx is known for their rotating selection of products, go with your budget set so you don’t miss out on pieces you thought you had time to buy, and don’t find when you come back another day.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Poundland
There are quite a few amazing cheap things to buy at Poundland, and homeware definitely is one of those things – almost everything in the store is priced at £1, aside from trendier or bigger products.
Poundland carries a full range of basic items for the home; spoons, cups, plates, cleaning supplies, boxes,…
The selection isn’t as extensive as places like Homesense or B&M, but there are more Poundland shops around the city than other budget shops, so they’re easier to access – one of my favorite branches is the one in Camden Town, right on Camden High Street.
In addition to light homeware and kitchenware, Poundland also offers seasonal items and decorations for special occasions like Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, and party supplies for birthdays; all perfect for tight budgets.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Homesense
Homesense and TK Maxx are from the same company, and where TK Maxx is also about fashion, beauty and makeup, Homesense is all about homeware and home decor.
Their prices are very discounted, so you always find quality products at a fraction of the original cost, and the home decor pieces I’ve come across over the years are stylish – whether you’re into maximalism, rustic or minimalist decor, you’ll find lots there.
My favorite Homesense store is the one in Greenwich; we might be far from Central London, but you also have Hobbycraft nearby, which is a huge arts and crafts shop with quite low prices.
If you find the same scented candle brands at Homesense as you do at TK Maxx, it really is normal since they’ve merged; be on the lookout for DW Home and Sand and Fog candles specifically if you like a good throw.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Home Bargains
The one Home Bargains store I love the most in London is the one located in Edmonton Green, North London, really close to Bim’s, a completely halal burger franchise.
Home Bargains is amazing for household products, homeware, stationery, food even, but my favorite things to buy there are the scented candles: I can’t rave about these enough.
There are a few different scented candle brands at Home Bargains, and the very best, Wickford and Co, rivals Yankee Candle in shape, weight, scents, and of course… in price.
Home Bargains carries really high-quality items: you’re not going to waste the pounds you spend there; both branded and own-brand products are good.
You won’t find big furniture pieces there, but rather, bathroom essentials, storage, home decor, kitchenware and bedding – a little bit like Poundland, Poundstretcher or Savers.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Furniture Charity Shops in London
If you’d rather have home decor with a history, then London’s charity shops are excellent options to find affordable homeware items and furniture.
Back when I used to live in North Finchley, in North London, I popped by the British Heart Foundation quite a few times – this furniture charity shop focuses on everything bedding, storage and electrical.
The British Heart Foundation isn’t the only charity that offers second hand items in good condition.
Some Oxfam shops also focus on furniture and home decor, as well as Emmaus, Cancer Research, Scope or Trinity Hospice, although for small home decor pieces, many of London’s charity shops carry unique bits.
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Primark
I’d much rather go to a charity shop to get unique home decor, but if you’re looking for something brand new, Primark is always a go-to destination – even though the prices have risen quite a bit over the years.
I mostly like Primark’s bedding section, with its fluffy blankets and nice cushions, and you can also find lots of storage solutions, towels, rugs, and even kitchenware there.
In addition to regular collections, Primark also offers seasonal homeware collections, with Halloween or Christmas themes, for instance, but also for occasions like Mother’s Day.
If you’re going to go shopping on Oxford Street, you’ll find a huge Primark store near Marble Arch station, although my favorite is the one right across Tottenham Court Road station.
You could visit and pick a few home decor pieces, and then why not spend a couple of minutes at the Outernet at the Now Building, one of the most mind blowing free immersive experiences in London?
Cheap Homeware Stores in London: Ikea
Ikea needs no introduction anymore, and there are a few branches on the outskirts of London: this international furniture and homeware retailer offers a variety of products that are budget-friendly.
Whether you’re looking for begging, storage, kitchenware or cheap home decor, you’ll find it there.
Don’t forget to pop by the Bistro when you’re visiting Ikea: I used to work at the food section back when I lived in Paris, and definitely recommend trying their cinnamon buns and veggie hot dogs at least once.
Also, many Ikea stores now offer second hand furniture at a clearance price.
Some are a little damaged, others are exhibition items, but they can really help, especially if you’ve just moved, are a digital nomad, or a student in London.
