The time has come to tell you all about the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents!
I’ve talked quite a lot about the best Christmas Yankee Candles in other posts here and there, as well as the Yankee Candle 2023 Art in the Park collections, both the Spring and Summer candles.
But while I’ve told you about what the best smelling Christmas Yankee Candles are to me, I felt like it would be cool for you to read about the best selling winter scents of the brand.
That way, if you’re looking for Christmas candles to gift a close one – or treat yourself, for that matter – you’ll see here all the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents that have been in people’s carts for years now.
Actually, you’ll find in this guide a few winter Yankee Candles that you might have seen in these guides:
But never mind – in these guides, I’ve told you about what I considered to be the best scents from the brand.
What I want to focus on are the best sellers, really the most popular and best winter Yankee Candle scents that make for perfect candles to burn at home when the weather is really, really cold.
So yes – let’s get started.
If you’re a scented candle addict like me, you’ll probably have owned a few of these, like Christmas Cookie and Farm Tree Festival.
But hopefully, you’ll also find some of the Christmas Yankee Candle scents you’d never thought you’d want to try!
15 Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents for Winter

This year, Yankee Candle has released some of the coolest Christmas scents we’ve seen from the brand for a long time in their Snow Globe Wonderland collection.
I’ve talked lengthily about this collection, which I have found very interesting, to be honest.
But I also know that if you’re not used to getting Yankee Candles, whether it be from Home Bargains, B&M, and other candle shops in London, you might still be apprehensive about the quality and the use of paraffin wax in the Yankee Candles. So let me answer a few questions for you:
Are Yankee Candles vegan?
The Signature Yankee Candle products are made with paraffin wax, which is a derivative of coal. In addition, Yankee Candles are not tested on animals, which means that indeed, they can be considered vegan-friendly.
What is the nicest-smelling Yankee Candle?
Woo – tricky to answer this question.
I’ve written a full post to the very best Yankee Candle scents for all times of the year in which you can find a few answers, as well as guides to the best ocean scented candles and coffee scented candles in which you’ll find a few Yankee Candle options.
But if you ask me, my ultimate favorite Yankee Candle scents of all time are Seaside Woods, Autumn Glow, Moonlit Blossoms, and one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, the worldwide famous Christmas Cookie candle.
Why are Yankee Candles so expensive?
If you’ve ever owned a Yankee Candle, then you know it literally takes ages to burn through a single one of their scented candles.
They’re not known to be cheap scented candles like the ones you’d find at Poundstretcher, Home Bargains, or in the TK Maxx candle aisles.
Rather, the fragrance concentration is high, the paraffin wax is of the highest quality, and basically, you have some of the strongest smelling candles on the market when you have Yankee Candles at home.
Are Yankee Candles toxic?
Following the study conducted by the ECMA, the European organization which takes care of everything from candle science to technical stuff, the result given to the public is that paraffin wax has not been proven to be any more toxic than any other kind of wax.
Here’s an excerpt:
The internationally funded study on candle emissions has confirmed that well-made candles of all major wax types (paraffin, soy wax, stearin, palm wax and beeswax) exhibit the same clean burning behavior and pose no discernible risks to human health or indoor air quality.
Why do Yankee Candles give me a headache?
Sometimes, Yankee Candles can give me a headache.
There are several cases; either the scent is too strong for my medium-sized room, or I have been burning the candle for too long (beyond the 3-4 hours advised by most candle brands).
If the candle is too close to you, you might be inhaling the fumes of the soot, so pay attention to burning it farther away from yourself.
Are there better candles than Yankee Candle?
Yankee Candle is one of my favorite scented candle brands, and that of many people.
That means that a lot of brands create Yankee Candle dupes, from Aldi and their Scentcerity candles to Wickford and Co at Home Bargains, and Pacific Wax Co at Asda.
However, I do feel like Yankee Candles are super fragrant, and the scent often remains in the room long after I’ve put off the wick. But if you’d like to try other candle brands, pay a visit to these guides:

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Cinnamon Stick

The fragrant mystery of imported cinnamon bundled with cloves.
Without a doubt, one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents is Cinnamon Stick, and it was also one of the first Yankee Candles I’ve ever owned.
If you’re looking for warm winter scents, then the mix of cardamom, clove, bay leaf, and cinnamon stick makes for a perfect fragrance to warm up a room instantly.
The autumn slash Christmas spice mix is backed by a woody note of cedarwood – and if you’ve been here before, you probably know how in love I am with strong-smelling candles, like tobacco, sandalwood, driftwood – that kind of scent.
If you’re looking for the best Yankee Candle winter scents, I have found the Cinnamon Stick candle to really hold up its end of the deal, and the scent really lasted even after I put it out.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Red Apple Wreath

A happy holiday homecoming with the festive aroma of sweet apples, cinnamon, walnuts and maple.
Apple scented candles are usually not something I go towards; that’s actually one of the autumn candle scents I hate.
They’re almost always really artificial and give me headaches straight away, aside maybe from some of my favorite DW Home candles, which have managed to create scents that make me enjoy apple candles.
And one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents is but Red Apple Wreath, which keeps on giving with much more than a simple apple note.
The overall scent is rich and generous, with a mix of brown sugar, cracked walnuts, butter, maple syrup, amber and vanilla.
The depth is brought about by cinnamon leaf and clove, which give their spicy notes to the Red Apple Wreath candle, making it one of the most popular Christmas Yankee Candles to gift – or to be gifted.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Sparkling Cinnamon

Holiday glow… the spicy warm fragrance of cinnamon sticks with a hint of clove aromas.
So if you’re looking for the best winter Yankee Candles, and you want a cinnamon candle, which one should you pick: Sparkling Cinnamon or Cinnamon Stick?
Well, it seems that both have the same fragrance notes, and although I was thinking that Yankee Candle is slowly repackaging and renaming Cinnamon Stick, this is not the case.
But to be honest, while both are very similar in fragrance notes, if you’re looking for a good winter Yankee Candle, they are still different.
The Cinnamon Stick candle is a true cinnamon scent, while Sparkling Cinnamon is more of a candy type of candle which also happens to feature cinnamon and clove in the top notes.
In the fragrance blend, you’ve got cinnamon spice, clove, and cardamom mixed with the woody notes of bay leaf and cedarwood.
I kind of have a feeling that if Sparkling Cinnamon is one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, it’s because people are addicted to red hot candies.

Best Winter Yankee Candle Scents: Black Cherry

A fruity fragrance that absolutely captures the delicious sweetness of rich, ripe black cherries.
Black Cherry is probably one of the best Yankee Candle winter scents because it gives that soft and sweet fragrance we all need in times when the sky is just purely white.
Well, if you like in cities like Rome, or San Diego, obviously, Christmas time looks a little bit different from London, where I currently live.
But still, if you’re looking for the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, Black Cherry is a must-have.
While the notes feature cherry, cinnamon, and almond, you’ll most likely only smell the cherry fragrances – almond in the Yankee Candle Black Cherry scent is rather faint.
However, if you’re afraid of getting a cherry scented candle lest it’s going to smell somewhat artificial, have no fear; this is one of the best smelling Christmas Yankee Candles of all time.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Christmas Eve

Traditional holiday scents of a warm hearth, sugared plums, and candied fruits.
Christmas Eve has been one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents for quite some time now, and when you smell the fruity and spicy notes of Christmas candied fruits.
With orange, lime, and lemon mixed with almond, amber, praline, cinnamon, and vanilla, you understand straight away why it’s a popular Christmas candle at Yankee Candle.
The thing is, there are not a lot of brands that use the personality of candied fruits to then infuse them into their candles, which is why Yankee Candles are so special; they’re well-thought and well-crafted.
The throw is great, and the spices and softness of praline and vanilla really make the Christmas Eve candle one of the best winter Yankee Candles.

Best Smelling Christmas Yankee Candles: Christmas Cookie

Buttery rich, vanilla scented, holiday sugar cookies.
Ask any candle lover which are the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, and they’ll probably tell you about Christmas Cookie.
Even my younger sister, who discovered Yankee Candle a few years ago, has gotten her second large jar of the Christmas Cookie candle.
You’ve got something utterly sweet and comforting about this candle, with creamy vanilla bean, butter, sugar, and baked notes backed by autumn and holiday spices.
This is not only one of the best smelling Christmas Yankee Candles – this is the Christmas Yankee Candle you can’t miss if you’re starting out with this brand.
his was my first Yankee Candle as well, and I’ve loved how strong and powerful the butter, sugar, and vanilla notes are in the Christmas Cookie scent. Looking for the best winter Yankee Candle scents?
Just get this one. Honestly.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Twinkling Lights

With the first string of twinkling lights, it’s time to deck the halls with a festive blend of almond, jasmine, and amber notes.
The Twinkling Lights candle is something very different from Christmas Cookie and makes me think of Midnight Jasmine and Christmas Eve mixed together.
In the blend, you’ve got sweet notes of frangipani, milk, vanilla, almond, and peach.
All is well in this very sweet candle until you mix some floral and woody notes of jasmine, sandalwood, and cedarwood.
And that’s how you get one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, by mixing vanilla and sandalwood, and some never-before-seen notes of milk, almond, and peach together.
One of the best winter Yankee Candles, Twinkling Lights is one of these background candles that no one talks about that much – but it’s still one of the best selling Yankee Candle scents for Christmas and the holiday.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Snowflake Kisses

Catch the frosty kiss of a snowflake with powdery notes of violet, rose, and white musk.
Snowflake Kisses has been one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents for a long time, and with its floral and fruity mix that makes you feel good during wintertime, it’s easy to understand why.
Why is it so popular?
Because the throw is great, and whether you’re a student, working from home, or just looking to relax with a Christmas candle burning in the background, Snowflake Kisses is amazing.
In the fragrance blend, you’ve got sandalwood, musk, violet, rose and orris bringing a powdered setting to Snowflake Kisses.
The fruity notes of strawberry, raspberry and peach bring a tangy blend to the overall scent, which makes it one of the best winter Yankee Candles if you’re looking for different candle scents.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Spiced Orange

This bright, cheery aroma blend of sunny citrus and snappy ginger is the perfect winter warmer.
I discovered Spiced Orange only a few weeks ago while shopping at Costco, and while I knew it is one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, I had not fathomed it would be so amazing.
The cold throw is already so intense that you know you’re going to have the Spiced Orange burning at home for the longest time.
You can really smell the ginger, citrus and vanilla in this candle, and that’s one of the really different candle scents that you can’t find anywhere else.
Plus, if you’re after the best winter Yankee Candle scents, that’s definitely a candle I can see myself burning all the way through February, and pick it up during summer nights and through fall.

Best Smelling Christmas Yankee Candles: Snow Globe Wonderland

Enter an idyllic winter world of never-ending flurries scented with icy mint, eucalyptus, and cedarwood notes.
Snow Globe Wonderland was released for Christmas 2022 in the eponymous collection, and I feel like it’s one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents this year.
There are four other candles available in the collection, which precedes the two Art in the Park 2023 collections already announced for spring and summer.
Yet, if you’re after the best winter Yankee Candle scents, the mix of icy mint, eucalyptus, cedarwood, snow moss, and holiday spices will make you fall in love with Snow Globe Wonderland.
It makes me think of one of the best cheap Christmas candles I talked about some time ago, the DW Home Christmas Tree candle.
Whoever is looking for the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, that type of Christmas tree candle is made for you.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Clean Cotton

Sun-dried cotton combined with green notes, white flowers and a hint of lemon.
Clean Cotton is not only one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, it’s one of the best Yankee Candles overall.
For sure, it is also one of the most gifted during the holiday season, because the green and woody notes provide a refreshing scent that you really can’t find anywhere else.
In the Clean Cotton fragrance blend, you have cedar, musk, woody notes, and vetiver blended with floral notes of bergamot, lily of the valley, and rose.
And the overall result is a really soft, strong smelling winter Yankee Candle that you can keep burning whether it’s spring, summer, or Christmas.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Midnight Jasmine

A seductive blend of water jasmine, sweet honeysuckle and mandarin blossom notes
Midnight Jasmine is indeed one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, but it’s also one of the candles you’ll be able to burn at home all year long.
The scent is dreamy, with neroli, mandarin blossom, and grapefruit notes that give the overall candle a real kick.
And if it is one of the best winter Yankee Candles, it’s that the powdery notes, musk, and floral notes lend themselves to the rain and the snow atmosphere outside very well.
I only discovered Midnight Jasmine a few weeks ago when looking for cheap Yankee Candles in London, and from the first moment I smelled it, I already knew it was one of the best Christmas Yankee Candles.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Lemon Lavender

Clean and inviting … a powdery fresh blend of tangy lemon citrus and sweet lavender flowers.
Now another one of the best winter Yankee Candle scents, and one of the best sellers on the official website is Lemon Lavender, and it’s pretty easy to understand why.
I know that with the rush of Christmas and the holiday, we all strive to find the best Christmas candles, especially from Yankee Candle it seems, those that smell like gingerbread, Christmas tree, winter pine – that kind of thing.
And I don’t know about you, but even if I’m in love with some of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, well, I don’t want to always be smelling cookies, chocolate, and festive candles at home.
Heck, at the moment, I’m burning the DW Home Fresh Brew candle and the Sand and Fog Beware candle – and none of them is purely, truly a Christmas scent.
So Lemon Lavender is one of the best smelling Christmas Yankee Candles, and why? Because it brings about a clean atmosphere, and crisp air, with a mix of spice, woody fragrances, and fruity scents.
We’ve got tangerine, lemon, and orange mixed with lavender, petitgrain, and eucalyptus – and vanilla softens what would otherwise be very, very floral.

Best Smelling Christmas Yankee Candles: Crisp Campfire Apples

The scent of freshly picked apples cooking over the fire in the crisp night air.
Crisp Campfire Apples, it’s one of the autumn Yankee Candle scents that is perfect if you’re trying to find a candle also suitable for winter and Christmas time.
As I said further above in this guide, apple scented candles are usually not my jam at all.
But if you’re looking for the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents, which can also double as candles to burn until February or March, then Crisp Campfire Apples is it.
I like this one a lot and actually find it pretty often during my trips to TK Maxx in London – for some reason, while most of the cheap Yankee Candle scents you find in budget shops are often discontinued, Crisp Campfire Apples is still available on the brand’s website.
In the fragrance blend, we’ve got lots of amazing notes; from cinnamon to oak leaves, mandarin leaf, blonde woods, and Tonka.
This means that you’re actually going to smell more of a woody fragrance when burning Crisp Campfire Apples rather than the pure apple itself.
It’s definitely one of the best smelling Christmas Yankee Candle scents if you like those woody, kind of sweet, and strong vanilla sandalwood or tobacco candle scents.

Most Popular Yankee Candle Christmas Scents: Tree Farm Festival

Immerse yourself in the festive spirit with family and friends as enticing scents of pine, vetiver and gardenia transport you to a local Tree Farm Festival.
Tree Farm Festival was released for Christmas 2021, and since, it’s been one of the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents.
If you’re looking for something really wintery, a Christmas tree candle that brings freshness and a dreamy atmosphere at home, you can hardly do any better.
Tree Farm Festival is actually one of the only Yankee Candle scents I’ve gotten last Christmas when I was invited to the Countdown to Christmas event in Central London. And I’ve burned it down to the core.
I’ve had some other candles from the most popular Yankee Candle Christmas scents in my life, like Christmas Cookie (of course!) and another chocolate scented candle, Chocolate Eggs, but wow.
Tree Farm Festival is just really, really different, and brings about an atmosphere of snow, white winter, and Christmas from the first moment you start burning it.
