You know I love finding new MAC lipstick and lip liner combinations, and today, we’re diving deep into three of the most famous MAC matte lipsticks, with matching shades of MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, and Taupe.

Honeylove: Light beige toned with rose

Honeylove, like the Yash lipstick or Spirit, is one of the most underrated MAC matte lipsticks. There are plenty of beautiful shades of lip liner for the MAC Honeylove lipstick, and it looks stunning whether you have very fair skin or dark skin and want to wear it with some dark brown lip liner around it.

Kinda Sexy: Neutral pinky-rose

While I personally feel that Kinda Sexy is more appropriate for people with warm undertones (with my fair olive skin, NW15 to NW20, I’d personally never wear it and I have, in fact, never worn it), this is one of the most wearable MAC coral lipsticks. You’ve got a nude lipstick indeed, but subtly peach-toned with hints of pink.

Taupe: Muted reddish-taupe brown

The MAC Taupe lipstick reminds me of a matte lipstick that was discontinued when I was still working at MAC, and one of my favorites of all times; Persistence. It’s a warm nude with hints of red, and it’s one of the most beautiful MAC lipsticks for medium skin tones. Very wearable and iconic color.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Oak

Soft beige brown

The MAC Oak lip liner is one of the softest nude brown lip liners at MAC Cosmetics. If you’re ever looking for the best brown MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, Taupe, and even shades like Hug Me and Velvet Teddy, the Oak lip liner has a muted nude color that looks absolutely incredible on fair skin tones up to medium skin tones.

If you’re looking for MAC lip liners for Asian skin, Oak is also a great color to wear under some of the beautiful MAC Powder Kiss lipsticks, and the shade Impulsive is great on medium skin to wear with Oak.

You can either choose to wear Oak under the Taupe lipstick or around, and it does work best when creating a slight ombre lip look with the Honeylove lipstick and Kinda Sexy due to its warm tone.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Cork

Muted golden brown

The MAC Cork lip liner is the darker version of the Oak lip liner, and it is one of my favorite MAC lip liners for dark skin tones who don’t want to use a cool-toned dark brown like Chestnut.

If you’re looking for the best MAC lip liner for Honeylove and want to try out Cork, you’ll see that blending the two shades together gives a stunning result.

All that’s left to do, really, when using the Cork lip liner with Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, or Taupe is to gloss up everything with my favorite lipgloss in the world, the MAC Lipglass in Clear.

However, if you’d also like to try colored lipgloss, then the Lipglass in Spice gives a very healthy look to the lips which looks incredible on both Kinda Sexy and Taupe.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Whirl

Dirty rose

I’ve mentioned the Whirl lip liner quite a few times here already; it’s one of the best MAC Cosmetics lip liners for overlining whether you are blonde, have Asian skin, Indian skin, olive skin, or medium brown skin.

The mix of brown and pink makes it one of the best choices if you know you want to create your own combos with MAC Cosmetics products.

And while Whirl is more on the cool side, it’s in my opinion the best MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Kinda Sexy and Taupe if you want to tone down that really warm color that all three matte lipsticks have.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Spice

If you’ve ever wondered what MAC lipstick goes with Spice lip liner, you’ve got here three beautiful shades to create everyday combinations.

The MAC Spice lip liner with the Honeylove lipstick looks absolutely incredible; Spice is slightly warmer than Oak, and gives a beautiful background to all three warm nude lipsticks.

If you’ve been here before, then you’ve probably read about my MAC Spice lip liner and lipstick matches, and it’s safe to say that up to brown skin, this is one of the most wearable lip pencil shades for everyday MAC lipsticks.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Chestnut

Intense brown

Chestnut is, like Spice, one of the most wearable MAC lip liners for dark skin tones and medium skin. Even I, with my fair olive skin, use Chestnut from time to time to create ombre lip looks with nude lipsticks and even some colorful shades like Russian Red or A Little Tamed.

If you have medium skin, brown or dark skin, and are looking for the best MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Chestnut will clearly create a contrast with that light brown nude lipstick. However, blend it properly, and it will look out of this world.

On brown, dark and black skin, the Chestnut lip liner with Kinda Sexy and Taupe has got to be one of the dreamiest results you’ll ever see, even if you’re used to creating your own lipstick and lip liner combos with MAC lipsticks.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Brick

With the MAC Brick lip liner, we’re diving into something a little bit different that I’ve thought of mostly for medium skin, Asian skin and Indian skin. However, if you have fair skin with warm undertones, I am convinced that using Brick with Honeylove, Kinda Sexy and Taupe will give them an even more interesting dimension.

I know that when you’re starting out in makeup, what you’re after are probably the best MAC lip liners for overlining, or even some nude shades like Stripdown, Soar, Whirl or Spice to apply under your lipstick and call it a day.

Let’s take a moment to remember that after doing makeup for quite a few years, I felt the need to instigate the world of color even more, and I love introducing MAC lipstick and lip liner combinations that you might not have thought of.

If you choose to use the Brick MAC lip liner for Honeylove, make sure to blend it out almost so much that you can barely see Brick. The same goes with Kinda Sexy and Taupe, although the contrast won’t be as visible. In any case, the reddish pink undertone of all three lipsticks is an interesting combination with the Brick lip liner, since it has warm undertones as well.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Chicory

Soft muted peachy brown

I already told you in a few other articles that what made me fall in love with the MAC Chicory lip liner is seeing it in action on a colleague’s lips; she had used this MAC lip liner for Honeylove and left it as is, and it was oh-so-stunning.

That colleague was Arabic, and I can remember clearly that I didn’t think before seeing both shades on her that olive skin tones could pull off Honeylove, let alone a warm shade like Chicory.

It’s one of the best MAC lipstick and lip liner combinations if you have very fair skin, but you can definitely make it work well into medium and light brown skin tones; I have a hunch even Asian skin tones can wear the Chicory and Honeylove combination together.

With Kinda Sexy and Taupe, Chicory is even easier to wear, as it will require even less blending and the colors are less contrasting between each other. They all have a slightly reddish undertone, just like Chicory, and if you’re down to try, you’ve got a winning combo here.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Auburn

Intense orange-reddish brown

The MAC Auburn lip liner is one of my absolute favorite MAC lip liners for Asian skin tones, Indian skin, dark skin and even fair skin with warm undertones. This is probably one of the most underrated MAC Cosmetics lip pencil shades, and back when I was working at MAC, it was almost always out of stock before people would just buy several backups.

The Auburn MAC lip liner for Honeylove is stunning; it’s much darker and redder than Chicory, and if you like how Chicory looks on you, you’ll most probably love Auburn as well.

What you’ll need to do is either apply Auburn all over your lips and dab Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, or Taupe on top of it lightly so both colors mix, or create slight ombre lips and really blend between both colors.

The contrast is so big there that I’d probably also apply some of the MAC Lipglass in Clear on top of it, so you really go statement with that lip look – even if it’s for an everyday look.

Best MAC Lip Liner for Honeylove: Mahogany

Intense reddish brown

The MAC Mahogany lip liner is roughly from the same family as Chicory and Auburn (think of it as a Pokemon evolution, if you will). You’ve got more brown than red in the Mahogany color than in both other shades, and if you’re looking for the best MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, and Taupe, you’ve got a winner here.

I can understand if you’re new to makeup, that you don’t want to mix cool-toned and warm-toned colors together before gathering the skill to blend them together properly. In that case, using the Cork or Chestnut lip liners for Honeylove might be a tad difficult.

That’s where Mahogany would be easier to use, and anyway, it also looks stunning with lots of MAC satin lipsticks like Paramount, Spirit, or Mocha, as well as some famous matte shades like, well, Taupe or Velvet Teddy.

Some of the most hydrating MAC lipsticks from the Amplified, Cremesheen, Lustreglass, and Frost ranges look stunning with the Mahogany lip liner as well, like Hug Me, Fresh Moroccan, or even ‘O’.

But if you’re looking for a really different – and in my opinion best MAC lip liner for Honeylove, Taupe, and Kinda Sexy, Mahogany will never let you down.
