I’ve written quite a bit about the best DW Home candles, and today, we’re going to review together some of the DW Home candles I’ve gotten in my TK Maxx candle haul a few weeks ago. I’ve told you in another DW Home candles review about the Richly Scented Candle Cereal Milk which is, to this date, one of my ultimate favorite DW Home candles I’ve ever gotten from TK Maxx in London.
Although I moved from North Finchley to Tottenham some time ago, I still try and go Central as often as I can, notably to pay a visit to study cafes in Soho or London Bridge. And of course, every time I go to Central London, I’m going to check out the TK Maxx candle aisles to find some new DW Home and Sand and Fog candles.
Today, we’re going to talk about two DW Home Richly Scented Candles; the coffee-scented candle Fresh Brew and Donut Shop, and a candle from the Cup of Joe collection, Caramel Brulee Latte.
DW Home Candles Review: Fresh Brew, Donut Shop & Caramel Brulee Latte

If you’ve been here before, then you know that one of my favorite budget shops in London is TK Maxx. I have gotten countless scented candles from TK Maxx, but I have to say that one of my favorite discounted candle brands there is DW Home.

You know how it goes with TK Maxx, if you can find a candle, you need to nab it and never let it go. I once came across the DW Home Fresh Brew candle and actually did not buy it.
Of course, when I went back to the TK Maxx shop I had found it, someone had gotten it and I had to go all around London to try and find it – I finally found Fresh Brew in one of the biggest TK Maxx shops in London in the Tottenham Retail Park in North London. To be honest, the Fresh Brew candle is the very candle because of which I couldn’t wait to write this DW Home candles review.
I have only managed to find small formats of the Fresh Brew and Donut shop candles, which are single-wick candles of 9.1 oz (258 g). As for the Cup of Joe candle, it is 11.2 oz, which equals roughly 318 g.

DW Home Candles Review: Richly Scented Candle Fresh Brew Candle

This is the first time I’m writing a DW Home candles review with several candles inside, and I’m excited to talk about the first one, the Richly Scented Candle in Fresh Brew. OMG. I do not even know where to start when it comes to this DW Home coffee-scented candle.
I have had the Fresh Brew scented candle on my radar for a while and only got it about one or two weeks ago. Here’s the fragrance profile of the Fresh Brew candle:
Freshly brewed, dark roast coffee splashed with sweet cream, coconut milk and sweetened with agave nectar.
The single wick candle I’ve gotten is said to have an approximate burn time of 33 hours and it retails for $16 – I’ve gotten it for £6.99, which is in itself a great discount. This is not the first DW Home candles review in which I rave about the TK Maxx candles, and really, wow – if you’re looking for the perfect DW Home coffee candle, Fresh Brew is perfect, especially if you’re working from home.
The DW Home Fresh Brew candle burns really evenly, the cold throw is already stunning, and even once I put out the flame, the coffee scent stays around forever. Just one of the very best DW Home candles at TK Maxx in London that I’d recommend to anyone who likes their coffee strong.

DW Home Candles Review: Richly Scented Candle Donut Shop Candle

I couldn’t wait to write the DW Home candles review, especially for Donut Shop, but that was only after burning it for some time. Everywhere you look for reviews of the DW Home candles, you’ll probably find people raving about the Donut Shop candle, but I’ll tell you one thing – it’s grown quite badly on me and I cannot stand it anymore.
With candles like Cereal Milk, you’d think I would have loved the DW Home Donut Shop candle, but it’s one of these candles I’m not even sure I want to finish, to be honest. Here’s the fragrance profile of Donut Shop:
Deliciously sweet donuts sprinkled in sugar and topped with salted caramel drizzle and crunchy caramel chunks.
I’ve also gotten the DW Home Donut Shop candle for just £6.99, but honestly, while I would have paid more for the Fresh Brew candle, I would not pay for more than that for the full-price candle. The smell on the cold throw is stunning, like a bakery type of scent mixed with sugar and donut, that’s true.
But that’s going to be the first DW Home candles review in which I’ll tell you that I actually don’t like a candle. Donut Shop is a bit overpowering and brings this heavy, too-warm air into the room when I burn it.
I have seen many a DW Home candles review in which people rave about the Donut Shop candle, saying it smells like freshly baked donuts, and that they hope that DW Home never stops making the Donut Shop scent.
It is true that the throw is great, but I just don’t like this candle at all anymore for a reason that is hard to explain given that everyone has a different olfactive sensitivity. It’s just too heavy, not even too overpowering but just – heavy.

DW Home Candles Review: Cup of Joe Caramel Brulee Latte Candle

I was going to get the DW Home Milk & Cookies candle again when I spotted the Cup of Joe Caramel Brulee Latte candle while waiting for my turn at the till. I had wanted a coffee cup candle from DW Home ever since I spotted Candy Corn Latte around Halloween, and when I smelled the Caramel Brulee Latte candle at TK Maxx, I knew I was going home with it.
It’s slightly bigger than the other Richly Scented Candles I’ve gotten, at 318 a pop. This is almost the most expensive candle in this DW Home candles review since I got it for £9.99 and it usually retails for $18 like all the other Cup of Joe candles.
How can I put this? This is the most disappointing DW Home candle I’ve ever gotten at TK Maxx. I don’t know how the other Freshly Brewed Aroma/Cup of Joe candles perform, but this one is simply disappointing. The cold throw is enticing, a great mix of caramel, coffee, and milk.
We’ve got a medium throw with Caramel Brulee Latte, though, and the scents of this one and Donut Shop are almost similar, to be honest. But the greatest disappointment lies in how unevenly this candle burns, tunneling almost straight away – it actually never self-corrected.
I guess that’s one of the most beautiful candles in this DW Home candles review, but honestly, it’s just disappointing and would be great for someone looking to collect the DW Home candle scents from the Cup of Joe range.
I’m still pondering over whether I will ever get another DW Home coffee cup candle because they’re more expensive than the regular DW Home candles – even in TK Maxx – and this one just performed badly.

DW Home Candles Review: Fresh Brew, Donut Shop & Caramel Brulee Latte

Thus finishes this new DW Home candles review; if there is one of the Richly Scented candles I can recommend, it’s definitely going to be Fresh Brew, which I wish existed even in a three-wick candle – I’d get it straight away.
On the downside, I really do not like either the Donut Shop or the Caramel Brulee Latte candles, which I think were definitely a waste of money on my part.
The Caramel Brulee Latte candle, more specifically, is really making me wonder whether I should go for the Cup of Joe candles in the future, even if there are some astonishing scents that I have told you about in my full best DW Home candles review some time ago. Only time will tell!
Until next time!
