If you’re ever wondering where to buy Sand and Fog candles, just know you can get them in all the TK Maxx shops in London – but if you’re living in the USA, then you have many more stores to get all the best Sand and Fog candles I’ll talk about today.
I first discovered Sand and Fog when I moved to London and started paying closer attention to the TK Maxx candle aisles, and I can say that this is one of the best independent candle brands I’ve ever come across.
A lot of the Sand and Fog candles are worldwide famous; whether you regularly visit TK Maxx – or TJ Maxx in the USA, HomeGoods, Homesense, Ross or Marshall’s, you’re bound to find some of the most famous Sand and Fog candles, from Winter Pine to California Beach House, and from Teakwood to the Vanilla Sandalwood candles – one of the best Sand and Fog candles ever brought to life.
I’ve actually talked about the brand quite a bit on The Working Line, along with other TK Maxx candle brands like DW Home and Yankee Candle. The scents are classy, and classic, with minimalist jars that make them stunning home decor additions.
And since I’ve owned quite a few Sand and Fog candle scents, shopped at TK Maxx actually, I thought it would be nice to share with you the best candles from the brand!
And if you’d like to discover more amazing candle brands, here are a few guides to look at:

16 Best Sand and Fog Candles From Sandalwood to Winter Pine

Before we get on with this complete guide to the best Sand and Fog candles, it would be helpful to know a bit more about the scents, the composition, and the price of the California-based candle brand:
Are Sand and Fog candles toxic?
While it is true the Sand and Fog candles are made from food-grade paraffin wax, a type of wax famous for being controversial, the ECMA, the European organization for anything candles from technical information to science, found out in a study that paraffin wax was not proven to be toxic.
In addition, the Sand and Fog candles are made with 100% cotton wicks, and all the ingredients used in their scented candles are FDA-approved.
Are Sand and Fog candles vegan?
Here’s what Sand and Fog say about their candles:
We do not intentionally add any animal-derived products in our candles. We are not certified as a vegan facility.
In addition, the ingredients used are a blend of natural and synthetic products, made to suit the majority of people and minimize allergies.
How much do the Sand and Fog candles cost?
The Sand and Fog candles are available in various formats which range from 4 oz to 35 oz, with a price broken down as follows:
- 4 oz candle: $8
- 12 oz candle: $22 (2 wicks)
- 21 oz candle: $32 (3 wicks)
- 35 oz candle: $44 (7 wicks)
A few different sizes are available, like 25 oz or 34 oz, but the 12 and 21 oz Sand and Fog candles are probably some of the ones you’ll see the most, especially if you’re buying them from Homegoods or TK Maxx.
In terms of pricing, Sand and Fog now offer subscriptions over 1, 2, or 3 months for their 12 oz candles, which brings the price to $19.80 per candle instead of the regular $22 (a 10% discount). That is great if you already know which ones are the best Sand and Fog candles for yourself and are used to getting your usuals.
Best Sand and Fog Candles: Limoncello

The Limoncello fragrance is a tart and true lemon scent – a bright, “wake me up” smell.
If you ask me, personally, which are the best Sand and Fog candles, I’d probably start with the Limoncello candle. This is a scent I’ve always loved, and while I’ve been trying out new candles like the Pacific Wax Co candles at Asda or the Wickford and Co candles at Home Bargains lately, it’s pretty clear I’ll be getting the Sand and Fog Limoncello candle sooner than later.
The fragrance blend is zesty, juicy, and intoxicating – you know from the cold throw that this is going to be one of the best Sand and Fog candle scents you’ll ever own. Perfect if you’re looking for lemon candles, but also for spring, summer, and cold nights during the rest of the year.
It’s also good to know that most of the bestsellers are also available in a large selection of products; that goes from different candle sizes to the especially fragrant Sand and Fog diffusers – which also exists in the Limoncello scent.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Olive Lemon

If you can’t go to Sicily, bring Sicily to your home. This fragrance is a blend of lemons, olives and mint with a slight woody undertone.
Olive Lemon is one of my latest finds in terms of Sand and Fog candles at TK Maxx, and the scent is complex, dreamy, and almost dark.
In the fragrance blend, you’ve got a really green mix of citrus zest, dewy greens, mint, rhubarb, musk, and green foliage – but really, what you smell is the olive and lemon scent.
This is pretty funny, seeing as there is actually no proper olive in the Sand and Fog Olive Lemon candle.
If you like scents like the Sand and Fog Teakwood candle, or things like vanilla sandalwood candles, that’s definitely a scent you should try. The Olive Lemon candle is unlike anything I’ve smelled before, and really a great addition to the Californian brand.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Vanilla Sandalwood

The Vanilla Sandalwood scent is warm, rich and woodsy, but still very creamy; this is an extravagant fragrance.
I’ve talked lengthily about the best vanilla sandalwood candle scents in another guide, in which I actually included the Sand and Fog Vanilla Sandalwood candle. This is clearly one of the best Sand and Fog candles at TK Maxx, and if you’re lucky enough to come across it in other shops or find it online, just get ahold of it.
The Vanilla Sandalwood candle is one of the most famous scents in the Sand and Fog brand, and it features a really complex blend of fragrances that give one of the most interesting woody candles in this guide – or any guide, for that matter.
The blend of amber, sandalwood, cedarwood, musk, resin, and bergamot already gives this Sand and Fog candle a lot of depth, only enhanced by the fruity notes of orange and lemon.
Orchid and vanilla are some of my favorite scents, and the fact that Sand and Fog has also mixed them with the rest of these natural fragrances makes the Vanilla Sandalwood candle a must-have of the brand.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Weathered Tobacco

The Weathered Tobacco scent is a like a wearing a nice warm wool sweater on a cold day.
Now, now, one of my personal favorite Sand and Fog candles: is the Weathered Tobacco candle. I actually also found this Sand and Fog candle at TK Maxx a few days ago while looking for new scents, and it seems to me like I’d already come across it before.
Do not mistake the Weathered Tobacco candle for the Weathered Spice candle: they’re really different in scent. If you’ve been here before, you already know that I love tobacco candles, and all types of ragged scents like whiskey candles, and brandy – the type of scented candle that reminds you of your grandpa smoking a pipe years back.
It’s very likely that the Sand and Fog Teakwood candle is more famous than Weathered Tobacco, but with its clear notes of tobacco and leather backed by woody and spiced notes of cedarwood, amber, saffron, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove, you’ve got the perfect autumn candle here.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Tahitian Vanilla

The Tahitian Vanilla fragrance will conjure up thoughts of having a delicious sweet beverage served in a coconut shell on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
I’ve found the Sand and Fog Tahitian Vanilla candle at TK Maxx time and time again, and if you’re looking for the perfect vanilla candle scent, you have to get your hands on this. Although there are lots of other fragrances in the Tahitian Vanilla candle, like coconut, creamy, Tonka bean, and chocolate, I can only really smell vanilla when I open it.
That’s almost a disappointment when you see a base note of chocolate – I love chocolate scented candles and I wouldn’t have minded smelling it a bit more in this Sand and Fog candle.
However, then it wouldn’t have matched the name, and I think the Tahitian Vanilla candle is perfect if you’re looking for a warm, subtle scent that reminds you a bit of the holiday at home.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Amber & Fig

The Amber & Fig candle reminds you of a French bakery – sweet, delectable and complex.
The Sand and Fog Amber & Fig candle is another one of my latest finds in the TK Maxx candle aisles; I was really surprised by how much I liked the scents, and will most probably pay a visit to my closest TK Maxx in London soon to actually bag it this time.
On the day I found the Amber & Fig candle, I had just literally raided the Asda candles from a lot of the Scentsationals and Pacific Wax Co candles and wax melts, so my candle budget was pretty much dry.
If I think the Amber & Fig candle is one of the best Sand and Fog candles, it is because I can see myself burning it all year round, like the Yankee Candle Seaside Woods candle, or the Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel candle. Whether you’re looking for Sand and Fog Christmas candles or something to burn during spring, I have a feeling this Amber & Fig scent lends itself to all occasions.
In the fragrance blend, lemon, mint, and coconut milk give something very exotic to the Amber & Fig candle, while you’ve got greener notes of fig, hyacinth, woods, musk, and amber giving it a lot of depth that promise a really good throw while it’s burning.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Teakwood

The Teakwood scent reminds us of walks in the forest, freshly cut wood, floral vines climbing the trees and everything we love about nature.
Now on to one of the most famous – and best Sand and Fog candles; the Teakwood candle. If you’ve read my guide to the best sandalwood vanilla candles, you’ll already know that anything teakwood, sandalwood, or cedarwood catches my heart almost at first whiff.
And the Sand and Fog Teakwood candle, with its floral, fruity, and woody scents, encompasses everything I like in scented candles.
It’s dreamy, masculine, and feminine at the same time, and just the perfect Sand and Fog candle scent whether you’re looking for a teakwood candle to chill at home after a long day, or if you’re a freelancer working at home to a burning candle all day long.
In the fragrance blend, the dreamy Tonka bean, sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, and moss mix with citrus, apple, and floral notes of jasmine, rose and cyclamen – really the best of every candle fragrance ever created, making it quite understandable why the Teakwood candle is one of the best Sand and Fog candles ever brought to life.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Winter Pine

The Winter Pine scented candle will fill your room with an amazing blend of soothing eucalyptus, pine and rich earthy notes.
If you’re ever looking for the best Sand and Fog Christmas candles, you’re going to need to look at the Winter Pine candle. I’m currently working on a guide to the best Christmas tree candle scents, and the Sand and Fog Winter Pine candle definitely belongs to that category.
Like all the Sand and Fog candles, Winter Pine actually has a subtle throw, which means you’re definitely going to smell it while burning it at home – but if you usually have headaches when burning scented candles, you can kiss them goodbye when using Sand and Fog.
In the blend, you’ve got really green notes of fir needles, pine, eucalyptus, sandalwood, and cedarwood. Then you’ve also got some warmer and brighter notes of caramelized sugar, citrus, and musk which give a muted fragrance to the Winter Pine candle, making it one of the best Sand and Fog Christmas candles.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Lavender Vanilla

This scent is reminiscent of a cup of cocoa for your walk through the woods to your private meadow.
The Sand and Fog Lavender Vanilla candle is actually a scent I found while browsing the TK Maxx candles, and upon opening it, I loved it instantly.
I have a bit of trouble with lavender scents; while I know they do help calm anxiety and stress – which we all have at this point in time, it’s not something I really enjoy while burning candles. I prefer sweet scents like the DW Home Cereal Milk candle, or the coffee scented Fresh Brew.
Yet, if you have and enjoy the Sand and Fog Vanilla Sandalwood candle, I have a feeling that Lavender Vanilla might be right up your alley. Especially because while you have lavender in the fragrance blend, the scent is much greener than that.
Pine, eucalyptus, black orchid, sandalwood, jasmine, musk, and cardamom complete the Lavender Vanilla candle in such a way that if you’re after Sand and Fog Christmas candles, that’s even a scent to consider.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Summer’s Night

The Summer’s Night scent reminds us of midnight strolls in the summertime when the cool air mixes the fragrant floral blossoms with the nearby woods.
Summer’s Night reminds me greatly of the Yankee Candle Midnight Jasmine candle, with fruity and mysterious notes circling the jasmine and amber scents of this gem made by Sand and Fog.
Like all the Sand and Fog candles, Summer’s Night has this subtle, medium throw that embraces you from the background and almost helps you feel more productive with work and happier.
In the fragrance blend, uplifting notes of lemon, orange, mint, and elemi are backed by woody scents of amber, cedarwood, and musk. If you like the Sand and Fog Vanilla Sandalwood candle, or the Lavender Vanilla candle, I have a feeling you’ll love Summer’s Night.
This is a candle that reminds me of summer nights, clearly, the brand has done a great job with the Summer’s Night candle and the freshness of the air – so much so that the name is perfect.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Jasmine Bamboo

Satiate your senses with this balanced scent of jasmine and bamboo, highlighted by hyacinth and rose.
I discovered the Sand and Fog Jasmine Bamboo candle on my last trip to my nearby TK Maxx, and I was hooked straight away. Coming across bamboo-scented candles is very rare, and that kind of soft woody smell combined with floral notes is everything.
In the fragrance blend, hyacinth, jasmine, rose, and balsamic blend with bamboo and aquatic – the overall result is a kind of floral candle scent that ends up being wetter, and reminiscent of a spring garden after the rain.
Whether you’re looking for a minimalist candle scent or would just like to try something new, Jasmine Bamboo is one of the best Sand and Fog candles in my opinion, even more so because it’s been up to the task of making me enjoy scents I didn’t think I would like.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Ocean & Sea Salt

Get transported to the coast with the refreshing essence of a gentle ocean mist combined with hints of sea salt, white tea, and coconut.
I’ll talk about another one of the best Sand and Fog candles for summer right below, the Clean Waves candle, but for now, let’s focus on Ocean & Sea Salt, which is clearly one of the best options if you’re looking for a minimalist kind of scent, and something reminiscent of the summer holiday.
While Sand and Fog definitely create amazing Christmas candles, I will forever think that they are more suited to the task of creating summer candles, and with Ocean & Sea Salt, you can hardly get a better result if you’re looking for something like driftwood and sea breeze candles.
In the fragrance blend of the Sand and Fog Ocean & Sea Salt candle, you’ve got a wide array of green notes; from rose to amber, white tea, musk, and cedarwood. Mandarin and coconut notes lift up an already really dreamy summer candle scent.
While you don’t have sea salt or sea breeze notes inside this Sand and Fog candle, I can tell you that it is what you’ll smell as soon as you open the candle.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Clean Waves

The Clean Waves candle is reminiscent of walking through a flower garden with a bit of something tangy in the air.
I love beach scented candles, that’s a fact. From Homesick to Bath and Body Works, there are lots of ocean and sea salt candles that are really worthwhile. And then, you have a different take on that with the Sand and Fog Clean Waves candle.
Something definitely refreshing and reminiscent of the seaside, with leather, amber woods, sandalwood, crisp air, and sea spray. But also something more flowery, with garden herbs and fruits that make the Clean Waves candle something that much more interesting.
In the fragrance blend, you have mandarin, rosemary, lavandin, geranium, and sage, amongst other stunning notes that all give some more depth and strength to what would have otherwise been a simple sea breeze scented candle.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Midnight Blue Citrus

Light this candle and you will have the experience of a refreshing breeze on a warm summer night bringing hints of citrus, water, and earth.
Midnight Blue Citrus is one of my latest finds at TK Maxx; amongst all the best Sand and Fog candles, this is a lemon scent that also offers some more mysterious, dark, watery notes.
I talked about the Sand and Fog Limoncello candle at the beginning of this post, and if you like the Limoncello scent, then Midnight Blue Citrus is another one of the Sand and Fog candles for you to try.
In the fragrance blend, you’ve got something a little bit more varied in terms of fruity scents; orange, apple, pineapple, peach, and blackcurrant are backed by warmer notes of amber and musk, which give even more depth to the Sand and Fog Midnight Blue Citrus.
An uplifting and calming candle scent all at once, with reminders of greenery and beach scents that make it one of the best Sand and Fog candles ever.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: California Beach House

There is a fragrance you associate with those Southern California coast homes – it is tropical, it is floral, it is marine and the California Beach House scent encompasses it all.
While some of the best Sand and Fog candles are clearly summer candles, fruity like Pineapple Coconut, woody like the Teakwood candle, or stronger, tobacco scented candles like Weathered Tobacco, one candle is clearly different than the rest of the Sand and Fog candles you can find at TK Maxx: the California Beach House candle.
You’ve got a blend o, seemingly, what southern California houses smell like; coconut, guava, and frangipani give the Sand and Fog California Beach House candle that fruity kick.
Then, for whoever loves ocean scented candles, the addition of marine woods and musk make this Sand and Fog candle the perfect addition to a minimalist home in search of peace and quiet.

Best Sand and Fog Candles: Hibiscus

The last one in this guide to the best Sand and Fog candles is the Hibiscus candle. Unfortunately, this is one of the Sand and Fog scents that has been discontinued, and I have only found it amongst the TK Maxx candles.
I can only tell you what I have smelled from the Sand and Fog Hibiscus candle, which is a floral yet sweet, fruity whiff of what seems to be one of the best Sand and Fog candles ever released by the brand.
I have found a few leads to the Hibiscus scent here and there on the Internet, but I fear that if you’re looking for floral candles, you’re going to have to get your hands on this Sand and Fog candle at TK Maxx, Homegoods, Ross or Marshalls.
