A few years ago, MAC Cosmetics released the first batch of their Love Me Lipsticks. While the most loved MAC lipstick shades are from the Matte, Satin, and Powder Kiss ranges, I have to admit that even I fell in love with the Love Me Lipstick collection as soon as it was released.
So I thought I’d tell you about the best MAC Love Me Lipstick shades today, and it will be a pretty short article, really, especially since some of the most popular shades like Joie de Vivre or Mon Coeur have been unfortunately discontinued.
Some of the most beautiful mauve MAC lipsticks are part of the stunning Love Me Lipstick range, which offers something at the crossroads between the long wear of the Satin lipsticks and the creaminess of the Amplified lipsticks.
So today, we’ll see together all the best MAC Love Me Lipstick shades for all skin tones, from Asian skin to fair skin and super dark skin, and from Indian skin to medium and olive skin tones!
9 Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Hey Frenchie to Ruby You
There haven’t been lots of MAC Love Me Lipstick new shades in the past years; I remember the whole range was released back in 2019 because that’s when I left Paris to move to London and started working at MAC Cosmetics in Covent Garden.
Some of the most popular MAC lipstick shades might be some of the more matte nude lipsticks, like Taupe, Velvet Teddy, and Whirl, but to be honest, the Love Me Lipstick shades are just plain different.
If you’re looking for the best type of MAC lipstick in terms of hydration and color payoff, the Love Me Lipstick colors will answer your craziest makeup dreams.
They’re full, really pigmented, and even more stunning with some colorful or brown lip liner underneath to make the color even fuller.
What I’ve found is that with just one coat of the MAC Love Me Lipstick colors, you can make almost any light lipstick work on medium and dark skin tones – which isn’t something you could do with the classic matte lipsticks unless you wore a darker lip liner around the color.
So today, between Laissez-Faire, As if I Care and E for Effortless, we’ll see together all the best MAC Love Me Lipstick shades for all skin tones!
Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Hey, Frenchie!
Deep mauvey nude
The first time I mentioned the MAC Love Me Lipstick in Hey, Frenchie! was in my guide to the best mauve MAC lipstick shades, and I do believe this is one of the most beautiful shades in this range.
For one, it’s probably the most loved MAC lipstick in the Love Me Lipsticks, just because it’s so wearable for almost all skin tones.
Since the Hey, Frenchie! lipstick is a true mauve lipstick shade, it will definitely look its best on skin with cool undertones or neutral undertones.
With my fair olive skin tone, this is one of the best MAC Love Me Lipstick shades, just because it matches the greenish undertone of my skin to perfection.
Stunning with the MAC Soar lip liner, Plum, or Half Red – anything muted looks perfect with the Hey, Frenchie! lipstick.

Best Selling MAC Love Me Lipstick Shade: E for Effortless
Burnt deep red
One of the most popular MAC red lipsticks is the E for Effortless lipstick from the Love Me Lipstick range, just because this is a true blue, deep red color. That means it looks perfect on any skin tone, and E for Effortless actually reminds me a lot of the Russian Red lipstick.
Another one of the most popular MAC Love Me Lipstick colors, if you want a bright red lip, is the Ruby You lipstick we’ll talk about right below.
But if you’d like something that much more elegant, a little bit deeper like the Viva Glam 1 type of red, and almost as dark as a burgundy lipstick, E for Effortless is one of your best bets.
Pair it with the matching MAC lip liner in Cherry, or for something a bit deeper, go for either the Burgundy lip liner or Chestnut to create a beautiful ombre lip look.

Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Colors: Ruby You
Vivid blue-red
One of the new shades of the MAC Love Me Lipstick range is Ruby You, and it’s described as a vivid blue-red, much like the real Ruby Woo lipstick, and the Ruby New lipstick from the Powder Kiss range.
I am not that much of a fan of the Ruby Woo lipstick, as I’ve told you many times on The Working Line, although to be fair, it does look awesome whether you’re looking for beautiful lipsticks for fair skin, dark skin, olive skin or anyone in between.
It seems like MAC Cosmetics has figured out that people aren’t fans of the Retro Matte finish which, albeit being almost transfer-proof in a tube, is utterly, incredibly drying.
And that’s how we’ve gotten one of the most popular, new, and best MAC Love Me Lipstick colors with Ruby You – the same color as the Ruby Woo lipstick, but that much more moisturizing. Use it with the Ruby Woo lip liner, or go the extra mile with the blue toned with the Cherry lip liner.

Best Seller MAC Love Me Lipstick Shade: As If I Care
Deep mauvey pink
Then you’ve got the As If I Care lipstick, and if you’ve been here before, you know just how much I love mauve lipsticks. Fans of the Hey, Frenchie! lipstick we’ve talked about at the beginning of this guide will love As If I Care, especially if you’re looking for fall and winter MAC lipstick colors.
As If I Care is another mauve pink lipstick shade, and it looks stunning on medium skin tones, olive skin, and Indian skin tones too. Whether you’re fair or dark, you’ll find a way to make it work.
One of my favorite ways to wear mauve lipsticks is actually with lavender blue eyeshadow, which really echoes the cool-toned color of the As If I Care lipstick. Perfect on anyone, and stunning with the MAC Soar lip liner, Half Red, Plum, Whirl, or Mahogany.

Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Coffee & Cigs
Greyish brown
I’ve mentioned the MAC Coffee & Cigs lipstick here and there, and it’s probably one of the MAC Love Me Lipstick colors that will look best on medium to dark skin tones.
Not one I’d recommend for Asian or very warm fair skin tones unless you go for a totally grunge, greige look and combine the Coffee & Cigs lipstick with the Stone lip liner.
Obviously, the greyish undertone of this Love Me Lipstick shade will look even more grey, and more taupe on fair skin, whether you’re super pale or have fair olive skin. On medium to dark skin tones, we’ve got here one of the best nude MAC Love Me Lipstick shades.
On darker skin tones, you can pair it with the Cork lip liner, Stone, and Chestnut, or go for a more colorful lip liner under the Coffee & Cigs lipstick with Plum, Burgundy, or the Half Red lip liner.

Most Popular MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Bated Breath
Warm pinkey brown
The MAC Bated Breath lipstick is one of the best shades in the Love Me Lipstick range, and it reminds me strongly of the M.I. Kiss lipstick by Charlotte Tilbury for some reason.
We’ve got here a beautiful rosewood, warm brown lipstick shade with a touch of pink, and if you’re used to wearing the Twig lipstick, you’ll find a clear resemblance between the two lipsticks.
Bated Breath is one of the most loved MAC lipstick colors in the Love Me Lipstick collection, as it’s very easy to use whether you have a dark skin tone, or medium, or very fair olive skin.
If you’d like to wear it the blurry, Asian way, by all means, the Bated Breath lipstick is one of the best shades to make a blurry lip contour as you’d usually do with the Chili or Marrakesh lipsticks.
On dark skin, medium skin, and brown skin, use Bated Breath with the Burgundy, Plum, or Chestnut lip liner. On pale and fair skin tones, you can also use these, but for a somewhat nude lip look, you can also use the Soar lip liner, Half Red, or Whirl under the Bated Breath lipstick.

Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Colors: La Femme
Deep eggplant purple
Then you’ve got the La Femme lipstick, which is one of the darkest, purple burgundy lipsticks from the Love Me Lipstick range. And to be honest, it’s one of my favorite.
I’ve always been in love with super dark MAC lipsticks, from Smoked Purple to the now-discontinued Punk Couture lipstick, and La Femme is a really refreshing addition to the collection.
The Love Me Lipstick in La Femme is described as a deep eggplant purple color, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a winter MAC lipstick, or something really statement for a date.
Olive skin tones, Indian skin, really dark skin, or super pale skin tones looking for a vamp result, you can definitely go for La Femme.
Pair it with some similar lip liner underneath or around the edges, like Vino, Nightmoth, or the Cyber World lip liner if you’d like an even darker purple-blue finish.

Most Popular MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Under the Covers
The Under the Covers lipstick is something really nude, and perfect whether you’re looking for a nude lipstick for fair skin, medium skin or a pink type of lipstick for dark skin tones.
Anyone in love with the Mehr lipstick, or Brave, would be able to wear the Love Me Lipstick in Under the Covers, as it’s one of the most wearable everyday MAC lipsticks.
Under the Covers is one of the most loved MAC lipstick shades from the Love Me Lipstick collection, and it’s easy to understand why – all the lovers of the result you’d get with the Twig lipstick or the Whirl lipstick, but willing to go for a pink lipstick will love this one.
It’s refreshing and glossy, long-lasting, and just really stunning on its own or with a lip liner.
If you’d like to make a cute MAC nude lipstick and lip liner combination, use it with the Whirl lip liner, Stripdown, the Soar lip liner, or even the Chicory lip liner for something a bit more warm brown, and you’re good to go.

Best MAC Love Me Lipstick Shades: Laissez-Faire
Muted greyish pink
If you’d really like to go with a super light, almost invisible nude lipstick from the Love Me Lipstick range, I can recommend the Laissez-Faire shade. It’s actually one of the most popular Love Me Lipstick shades, and it’s described as a ‘muted greyish pink’ that does define Laissez-Faire pretty well.
As I said at the beginning of this guide, the Love Me Lipstick colors are so formulated that they look stunning on every skin tone. All you have to do is check the undertone of the lipstick compared to your own skin’s undertone, but in essence, you can probably make them all work on you.
The MAC Love Me Lipstick in Laissez-Faire is perfect if you’d like to wear something cool-toned on the eyes.
For instance, you could couple Laissez-Faire with some duochrome eyeshadow or some stunning shimmery green eyeshadow, like the ones from one of my favorite Juvia’s Place palettes of all time, the Rebel Army palette.
Just wear some nude lip liner underneath to make the lipstick that much more visible, like Dervish, the Spice lip liner, or even Edge to Edge for a pinker result, and there’s your complete look.
