Christmas time is coming, and what could be a better moment to talk about the best gold eyeshadow palettes? Some time ago, I told you about the best green eyeshadow palettes, which is one of my ultimate favorite colors to wear on my eyes, especially since I have hazelnut eyes.
But an even more versatile color to wear as eyeshadow is gold, and since it can be worn all year long, even during the day when you choose some more muted gold eyeshadows, I felt like the second ‘color eyeshadow palette’ guide of this series should be about the best gold eyeshadow palettes.
As time goes by, I’ll definitely write about eyeshadow palettes of all colors, including blue, pink, mauve, silver, and even rainbow eyeshadow palettes.
I have been a makeup artist since 2018, and while I’m not currently doing makeup because I’ve grown a bit wary of the fashion world, I am still one of the biggest makeup addicts you will find on the planet.
And of course, eyeshadow palettes are part of the lot; in addition to being a makeup artist and makeup lover, I am also a huge makeup collector.
I’ve got lots of makeup reviews in the works for you, at least with the makeup that I still have (you don’t keep a lot when you keep moving across the Earth).
For now, from Huda Beauty to ELF, and from Barry M to Dior, I’ll tell you all about the best gold eyeshadow palettes for all budgets and all eye colors – keep reading!
15 Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes from Rose Gold to Metallic
Before we get to the flesh of it, let me answer a few questions you might have before getting gold eyeshadow palettes of such and such an undertone.
Can anyone look good with gold eyeshadow?
Yes – long story short, the deeper your skin tone is, the more vibrant and golden your eyeshadow should be (otherwise, you risk having your gold eyeshadow look washed out).
If your skin tone is lighter, then use something with a pink undertone, like champagne or light rose gold. Don’t go for ultra-yellow gold eyeshadows if you’re really fair, it will look weird.
How can you wear gold eyeshadow?
Well, guys, I’m a makeup artist – I would wear gold eyeshadow in any way possible, blended out as a highlighter, in the inner corner of the eye, or as an eyeliner when mixed with a mixing medium.
If you’re looking to give the illusion of bigger eyes, make sure to blend out a darker color on the outer corner of the eyelid (both top and bottom), and apply the vibrant gold to the center of the eyelid, blended out until the inner corner.
What lipstick color with gold eyeshadow?
It really depends on the undertone of the gold eyeshadow palette you’ve chosen.
A classic red or plum would work with quite any color of a gold palette. If you’re going for a champagne gold type of eyeshadow, work with something a little bit more cool-toned/nude on the lips.
If you’re going for a warm gold eyeshadow, then a matte burgundy or a warm nude topped with lipgloss (I’m thinking of the MAC Spice lip liner as I’m writing this) would look amazing for a daily look.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Roen 75° Warm Eyeshadow Palette ($49)
Let’s kick off this guide with one of the most exquisite – and best gold eyeshadow palettes on the market at the moment.
Los Angeles-born Roen makeup brand is famous for being a completely clean beauty, cruelty-free brand that brings glamour and innovation together.
The proof is in the pudding, with some astonishing silver, cool-toned palettes and of course, one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide.
The 75° Warm Eyeshadow palette retails for $49 and features four eyeshadows conceived with a new notion of beauty.
Foolproof, the eyeshadows give a multi-dimensional, glassy effect that brings out the shine in the formula and the eye color at the same time.
This might be one of the most expensive gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide, but the Roen 75° Warm Eyeshadow palette is perfect if you’re looking for an everyday palette to wear for daytime and date time.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Huda Beauty Empowered Palette ($67)
I’ve been a fan of the Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes for quite some time, ever since I got her Neon Obsessions palettes a few years ago. Although one might not always follow influencers on a daily basis (that’s definitely my case), I love seeing what people create at the peak of their fame.
And if you’re looking for stunning gold eyeshadow palettes, then you’ll discover two of the best Huda Beauty palettes in this guide today.
The first one is the Empowered eyeshadow palette, which I have swatched a few weeks ago at Harrods, very close to Knightsbridge station, and I fell in love with it instantly.
This is one of the best Huda Beauty gold eyeshadow palettes ever brought to life by the brand, and I feel like even if the texture of the previous palettes was already stunning, the Empowered palette is something of its own league.
You’ve got the perfect balance between champagne, nudes, and gold eyeshadow colors in the Huda Beauty Empowered palette, which is made to suit all skin tones to perfection. One of the best gold eyeshadow palettes to get your hands on, whether it’s a treat for yourself or a close one.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Dior Backstage Pure Gold ($45)
I’ve used the Dior Backstage palette in Pure Gold a few times in the past, and what can I tell you aside from if you’re looking for one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes around, and you have the budget to spare, just get it.
A few years ago, I would never have bothered with Dior eyeshadow palettes, because they were just not that good, in line with Chanel and YSL palettes that I’ve literally never even bothered purchasing after swatching at Sephora, back when I used to live in Paris.
Dior Backstage is a whole other story and has come up with some of the best gold eyeshadow palettes you’ve ever seen.
The only downside would be that the palettes are only four eyeshadows, which is a shame when you see the quality of the Dior Backstage eyeshadow palettes (although some of the palettes do have 9 pans).
The Dior Backstage Pure Gold eyeshadow palette is in a league of its own, and it’s versatile as well. You can either build up the already highly pigmented gold eyeshadows or blend them out to wear as a highlighter on the cheekbone and on the brow bone.
Priced at $45, this is one of the most expensive palettes in this guide, but if you’re after the very best gold eyeshadow palettes, the Pure Gold palette exceeds all expectations.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Barry M Sweet Caramel (£7.99)
I love Barry M, and you might have seen that when I reviewed my Barry M lip liners some time ago. Well, if you’re looking for the best gold eyeshadow palettes on a budget, you’re going to want to take a look at the Barry M Sweet Caramel palette.
With a retail price of just under £8, this is one of the cheapest gold palettes in this guide and one of the palettes that will allow for the most creativity.
You’ve got a great balance of shimmer and matte eyeshadows in the Barry M Sweet Caramel palette, which features three different shades of gold, from the most vibrant gold eyeshadow to a bronze gold eyeshadow.
In addition, creamy mattes have been added to the color story, with one of the highlights of the Sweet Caramel palette being of course that incredible red matte that sparks a will for me to pick up my brushes when I look at it.
With more of a warm-toned color story, the Barry M Sweet Caramel palette will be one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes for medium to dark skin tones, unless you really blend out the yellow-toned gold eyeshadows if you’re fair-skinned and can’t live without it.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: ColourPop Good as Gold ($18)
I have owned a lot of Colourpop eyeshadow palettes, but for whoever is after exclusively gold eyeshadow palettes, then the Good as Gold palette will be perfect for you.
Like many of the gold palettes I’ve selected for this guide, the Colourpop Good as Gold eyeshadow palette offers hues and shades for every skin tone, and every eye color.
I do feel it would be just on point for anyone with a medium to dark skin tone, but if you’ve got fair skin, you’ve got great possibilities with the Colourpop Good as Gold eyeshadow palette.
With a retail price of $18, this is one of the medium-priced gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide, and as usual with Colourpop, some mixing medium to make an eyeliner or even glitter glue as a base (just like you would do with glitter) will make the gold eyeshadows pop even more.
Especially since in the Good as Gold palette, you’ve not only got the creamy mattes and metallics we’re used to with Colourpop but also their foiled finish as well – and I promise you’re going to want to make it visible.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Juvia’s Place Warrior Palette ($20)
In my life, I’ve owned maybe fifteen or twenty Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes, and I’m not joking when I say that this is my ultimate favorite brand of palettes.
Initially created to fill a gap, that of black women not being able to have eyeshadows really showing up on their skin, Juvia’s Place’s fame has traveled around the globe, even to France, which is where I actually found out about Juvia’s Place.
If you’re looking for the best gold eyeshadow palettes for dark skins, then bingo: the Juvia’s Place Warrior palette is one of the best you will ever find.
Even on my fair and olive skin, I was able to really make the eyeshadows work, and these are some of the most pigmented gold eyeshadows I’ve ever seen.
There’s no introducing Juvia’s Place anymore in my opinion; this is one of the very best brands of eyeshadow palettes in the whole wide world in my opinion, better than most high-end makeup brands.
Juvia’s Place has created a few other gold eyeshadow palettes too, but the Warrior palette is the original, and one of the very best in terms of bronze, champagne, and yellow gold eyeshadows.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Urban Decay Naked Honey ($49)
When the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes were all the range, I was on the front row and got all three of the first Naked palettes. I was crazy about them, at least in the swatch, and didn’t think they looked that good on me in the end, to be honest.
Then again, I’ve never been known to like nude eyeshadow palettes that much, it takes a lot for me to wear anything other than eyeshadows that come from rainbow eyeshadow palettes (which is what I wear the most).
If you’re an Urban Decay fan and looking for the best gold eyeshadow palettes, the Naked Honey palette is perfect both for everyday wear and nighttime looks.
You’ve got two bright and vibrant gold eyeshadows in the Naked Honey palette, along with a great balance of neutral mattes and wearable champagne and bronze eyeshadows.
The Urban Decay Naked Honey palette is priced like the other Naked palettes, at $49, which makes it a great gift to yourself or a beloved. It is a great option for every day in my opinion, especially if you’re looking for really wearable gold eyeshadows.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Dose of Colors Cutting Edge ($32)
Ah, who doesn’t remember all the craze surrounding the Dose of Colors liquid matte lipsticks, back when wearing a transfer-proof, all-matte lip was trendy a few years ago?
That’s when I got to know Dose of Colors, which was utterly inaccessible back when I lived in Paris.
Well, if you’re looking for one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes with a twist, the Cutting Edge palette is probably one of the most interesting palettes in this guide.
After writing about the best green eyeshadow palettes, I think we’ve all understood how crazy I am about all kinds of green hues, from olives to khakis, and even neon green eyeshadows.
In the Dose of Colors Cutting Edge palette, you’ve got a yellow gold eyeshadow that mixes with really dark eyeshadow colors perfect for fall.
Priced at $32 for a fully gluten-free and cruelty-free palette, the Cutting Edge palette is one of the medium-priced gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide, and it is perfect whether you just wanted that gold eyeshadow or really wanted to create a whole olive look for every day – and even night time.
At this time when Instagram and Tik Tok have clearly taken over, I feel like Dose of Colors has been left a little bit on the edge, yet if you’re looking for a really good gold eyeshadow palette, those creamy mattes and popping shimmers are perfect for almost any skin color – and perfect for every eye color as well.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Huda Beauty Tiger Palette ($27)
I mentioned the Huda Beauty Empowered palette higher up, and there’s another teeny tiny one that deserves a spot on the podium: the Huda Beauty Wild Obsessions Tiger palette.
There are quite a few palettes in the Wild Obsessions range, but I feel like the Tiger palette is perfect if you’re wearing it for fun, with its very wearable gold eyeshadows.
You’ve got two really gold eyeshadows in the Huda Beauty Tiger palette, the rest being mostly mattes, with two shimmer eyeshadows that lead me to think the color story is mainly targeted at fair-skinned to medium-skinned people.
I love how creamy the Huda Beauty eyeshadows are, and I can definitely see myself using a lot of the mattes as eyeliners; especially that reddish matte shade on blue or green eyes.
A completely vegan gold eyeshadow palette priced at $27 and definitely worth every penny.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Muse ($56)
Back when I moved to London for the first time, I was hired by Charlotte Tilbury – but never got to work for the brand, since I ended up working at MAC Cosmetics in Covent Garden.
But I keep a great memory of the Charlotte Tilbury products, and if you’re looking for a luxury palette, and one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes out there, I can recommend the Legendary Muse palette.
This is clearly a gold eyeshadow palette with cooler undertones, so unless you’re fair-skinned or fair to medium-skinned, I would not recommend going with the Legendary Muse palette.
It retails for $56, which makes it one of the most expensive gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide, but it is also one of the only luxury palettes here today.
The colors are smooth and really beautiful to wear on a daily basis, so if you’re just starting out with makeup or would just like something gold for every day, then this Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Muse palette is perfect.
That’s really a palette that you can apply with your bare fingers, in the Tube, or when you’re late for work as there are no mattes in this palette and all the shimmers are really wearable – the perfect gold eyeshadow palette for anyone starting out.

Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: By Beauty Bay Nude 42 Palette ($25)
I have been following the new BeautyBay trends ever since the makeup retailer released its first palettes, and actually, the By Beauty Bay Nude 42 Colour palette was one of the first gold eyeshadow palettes it ever released.
From the first moment I used the Beauty Bay eyeshadow palettes, I was hooked anyway; the mattes, especially, I found to be incredibly smooth and creamy.
If you’re looking for vegan gold eyeshadow palettes, most of the palettes I’ve mentioned in this guide are either cruelty-free or vegan, but the By Beauty Bay brand goes a step further by being PETA cruelty-free certified.
In the Nude 42 Colour Palette, you’ve got more gold eyeshadows than you might have wished for, and since I’ve owned a lot of the Beauty Bay eyeshadow palettes, I know for a fact that even if the eyeshadows might seem similar on a screen, they are not in real life.
That here is one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes if you’re looking for a budget palette for every day since there are lots of matte nude eyeshadows and dark mattes to create any type of look.
The usual retail price of $25 is also perfect when you know you’ll have this palette for years.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: Juvia’s Place Nubian Glow ($15)
The Juvia’s Place Nubian palettes were the first ever released by the brand a few years ago; I remember receiving my parcel with the Nubian and the Nubian 2 palettes and being blown away by the highly pigmented eyeshadows.
I’ve mentioned the Warrior palette higher up, but if you’re looking for something even warmer in terms of gold eyeshadows, then the Nubian Glow palette will be perfect for you.
This is clearly a palette aimed at medium to dark skin tones, but if you’ve got blue or green eyes and fair skin, then I still think you can make the Nubian Glow palette work to your advantage with a lipstick shade like the MAC Mehr lipstick, for instance.
I am crazy about coral and orange eyeshadows with a golden shimmer, and even have a few nail polishes of the same kind of color.
This here is a gold eyeshadow palette perfect whether you’ve got a rich brown skin tone or want to create some heavy, Instagram-inspired makeup looks.
As for me, when I finally get my hands on the Juvia’s Place Nubian Glow palette, I know that this orange shade in the bottom will end up as a blush, while the champagne next to it will look perfect as a highlighter.
Some really, really warm gold shades in this palette, which make it one of the most versatile and best gold eyeshadow palettes here – especially at a price of $15!
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: XX Revolution Dynamite Flexx ($8.25)
The XX Revolution Dynamite Flexx palette has been on my wishlist for a while now, because if you’re looking for affordable gold eyeshadow palettes, then that’s one of the best for all types of skin tones.
You’ve got a vibrant gold eyeshadow in the Dynamite Flexx palette, but in addition, you’ve also got a rose gold, a peach, and a shimmery red that would look good on almost absolutely every type of skin – and eye color.
At only $8.25, this is one of the cheapest gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide, and probably one of the most versatile here.
If you’ve read my guide to green eyeshadow palettes, then I mentioned XX Revolution already, and I told you that I really liked having multi-use eyeshadow palettes.
On photoshoots, I would often go with just two or three eyeshadow palettes in my kit, just because the right eyeshadows can also be used as blush and highlighter.
With this color story here, you’ve got one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes to wear every day, and enough bright colors to create some crazy eye looks as well.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: XX Revolution CrystalXX Karat ($16.75)
This is the second XX Revolution gold eyeshadow palette I’ll mention here because CrystalXX Karat is one of the ultimate best of this whole guide if you’re looking for several different gold eyeshadows in the same palette.
Retailing at $16.75, this XX Revolution gold palette is very well-priced for the quality of the eyeshadows, which seem almost creamy when swatching it.
You’ve got colors for every type of skin tone and eye color in the CrystalXX Karat palette. As you can see, we’ve got some really warm-toned gold eyeshadows in there, as well as some rose gold, champagne, and other perfect eyeshadow colors for fall.
There is not one eyeshadow in the CrystalXX Karat eyeshadow palette that will let you down, and whether you want to build a full-on look or just create a little gold eyeliner for everyday wear, this is one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes to do so.
The really good thing is that the color story is interesting and varied enough that you can definitely wear the Karat palette all year long, so that’s a really good and versatile investment in terms of gold eyeshadow palettes.
Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes: ELF Bite-Size Hot Jalapeno ($3)
The last one of the best gold eyeshadow palettes in this guide is the ELF Bite-Size palette in Hot Jalapeno. There are a few palettes in the Bite-Size range, but Hot Jalapeno is by far my favorite because I feel like it can compliment a lot of different skin tones – for only $3.
Over the years, I have owned almost all of the ELF Bite-Size palettes, and Hot Jalapeno has remained the most striking purchase of the brand for me.
I have used yellow gold and green gold on models and on myself more times than I can remember, and I have always experienced great quality from these eyeshadows without much fallout.
If you’re looking for that really deep, vibrant gold and would like to find the best gold eyeshadow palettes on a budget, then you shouldn’t miss out on the Hot Jalapeno palette. Why?
Because even if you don’t want to wear the metallic gold eyeshadows all over your eyelid, they are the perfect colors to make a statement eyeliner with – and they last all day.
15 Best Gold Eyeshadow Palettes from Rose Gold to Metallic
There you have them, all the best gold eyeshadow palettes on the market these days.
I’ve tried to select a good variety of gold eyeshadow palettes, as well as palettes that also contain gold eyeshadows and that you can mix with rose gold, peach, or olive eyeshadows.
Whether you’re looking for gold eyeshadow palettes for Christmas time or to wear on a daily basis, you’ll hopefully have found everything you need here!
Until next time!
